I always knew you leigh lot werent too hot on your league but I was amazed at having to tell your fans in the stand what an 8 point try was and why it was blatantly given. Its a good job I didnt tell them I was a Wire fan or I wouldnt have made it out alive. You'd think the average age of the blokes and women in that stand there'd be a few seen in yer time. FWIW as a neutral there were a couple of sceptical calls, as in any RL match but Child was fine, best game ive seen him referee actually. THIS is why I LOVE you lot, you're all mad, deluded, havent a clue, it gives me great entertainment educating you all. Go and watch the game again and begrudgingly into your coffee admit he was right on almost every call.

Agreed Reffy and if you read one of my posts on page 5 of the James Child thread you will see I made a very similar point.

It was the "mad, deluded, haven't a clue" that made me chuckle.



With regard to the Child's thread, it is far easier to jump on a bandwagon than let it go past.

Funny you should mention Tony Cottrell. Back in the Owlerton days, I'm pretty sure it was him who gave the penalty away for a three-point drop goal.

Must be the rarest event in Rugby League - I've never even heard of someone who's heard of one being given.



The sequence of events was that Tubbs dropped a goal; while the ball was in flight, Cottrell (may be somebody else, it's a long time ago) bowled him over and Frank Tickle gave us a penalty ten metres (maybe yards in those days) in front of the sticks which Tubbs kicked as well.

I reckon it would be in the early part of the 1988/89 season.

Course he was Cotterell played up to about 91 i think. But i don't remember any 3 point drop goal penalty and 3 points for drops finished in murphys time cos is was because of him they got reduced to 1pt

A 3pt drop goal is similar to an 8 point try ie a penalty is awarded after the drop goal due to a foul on the kicker.

Because last time I looked it was a members forum. It helps to know what is and is not allowed and on this particular occasion there are no clues to your intervention.

A members forum with rules as stated in the AUP and these site rules, your post indicates that you need to read the AUP and site rules again then and it's not a democracy if you dont like the rules or their interpretations then dont come on, thats the Admin rules.
I point you to rule 2.2.
