Frank i respect your oppinions,i think Meekin still hastime to prove himself,im not keen on Higson though he doesnt put himself into a game enough,and Nash hasnt had much of a chance either,though he aint breakin any pots in the Reserves though.

If they have a year left on their contract we may as well keep them if we can't sell them and let's be honest, they're not the worst three players out of the ones I have mentioned to have to stick with.

Squad players- Alstead-versitile and reliable, Higson-come on lad, your way better than your playing! Meekin-young squad player under contract, Hopkins-yound 2nd rower, Nicholson-young hooker, Nash-under contract and potentially a decent player.

A decent centre, winger and loose forward and a handful of good pros and we've got the basis of a good side. Problem is at the moment, lack of proffessionalism and pace. We have a few weapons like our halfbacks and Duffs attacking the line and Nanyn from close range but if teams prepare for it we look lost. A bit of pace and we have something extra and it will result in these strengths we have being more effective.

Jonny i think a couple of your squad,wont be at Leigh next season,Basil is no idiot,he knows what we are lacking, and dont need us to tell,ihave faith in him to put everything right.

Which ones? I don't think he's a big fan of Nanyn.

When the club needs money from a sponsored walk, golf and poker tournament then people must realise that any monies available has to be spent wisely on the right player. 10 grand goes nowhere, though well done to those raising funds. 1500 people paying £200 or so for a season ticket doesn’t create secure a foundation for any healthy ambitious sporting business, especially one with no or little assets.
People need to realise where the club are; a small club, big ideas, no money, no success, great supporters.

I would suggest it is not in anybody’s interest to reciprocate the very generous offer Gateshead made to us last season.

As for our squad/team , well it is good enough to get us to the GF , they have already proven that this year by beating essentially everybody we would need to beat to get to the GF

We have a much needed break to hopefully re focus on what we need to do , then hopefully a tired/emotionally drained Widnes to get some confidence back

Win 6 on the bounce and we're in the GF

regarding meekin he as had 5 different injuries ( at least ) this season all keeping him out for between 3 -12 wks and im sure 95% of players in any sport ave seasons like that. Also keep in mind at the begining of the season after coming bac form an injury he wud find it hard to get bac into a winning team, he as nowwith tomorrow played the last 5 games at swinton and is building up his fittness and confidence IM wanted him playing at an higher level than 21s, injury prone as some one posted dont think so just unlucky this season

We can and should have a team that can compete with anyone in our division simply due to the fact that we have an average crowd of 1800-2500 plus a good lottery and LISA. To get beat by teams who get 500 home fans really annoys me. It simply means that we have not spent wisely. What we have done is sign players that are not up to scratch. Alstead, Maden, Mconnell, Duffy were released years ago coz they were not good enough and then we re-sign 'em (although Duffs at hooker is OK). Nanyn has never been good enough. Stanton is too small. Riddy is not good enough - he has had a spell where he played well but, as all amateurs, he can't do it every week. We need 2 wingers, a centre to go with Blythe, a stand off, Nicholson at hooker, a running second rower (Smith?) and a loose forward who can pass. We have a good reserve side but the step up is so big that I doubt more than 1 or 2 could make the it to first team level. What annoys me is that Fev have lost that 'Parker' centre but bring in a replacement who was miles better than owt we have. Something is (or has been) wrong with our recruitment.

As everyone has pointed out - we lack pace - so why the hell would anyone include Maden, Nanyn, Alstead in next years squad. These are the ones that we are all saying "lack pace".
Ridyard is not upto this level. Armistead is a grafter but is not good enough - he was good at Barrow in Champ. 1 but thats his level. We need to get rid of solid, reliable, won't let us down , utility players and replace with specialist players in their positions.

Actually to keep my spirits up till the play offs I have decided to go with the thought that IM is just lulling the other teams into a false sense of security till the play offs when we can then blow everyone out of our way. It must be that because as you and I have both stated this is the same team that started with P9 W8 D1. It has to be that.......simples

Opposing coaches do not need to watch DVD's of our games they just come on here and in 2 minutes they know it all.

Alstead is handy as he can play anywhere in the three quarters. Armitstead won't win you the league but every team in SL have backup players who are reliable and won't let you down (Ablett, Clough, Hansen) Nanyn is good enough for this league, but he needs a quick winger and a second rower next to him who is mobile. We're second in the league and you think every player is awful. I think we need a winger, a centre, halfback and a couple of forwards.

Iwent to watch the reserves yesterday,we turned out a very experienced side,and won,but i can virtually name a full team who are surplus to us next season,we all know we need 2 wingers,nobody is denying that,anda centre,theres not much wrong with our forwards,maybe we need an experienced loose forward,our season is still alive look at the other teams fixtures.

We need to stop thinking alike Charlie, we may get accused of being the same person with two accounts! Like Barry MacKenzie on the VT!

Just 2 Leythers,who see the game as it is,ive no favorites in the team,and like any player who at least tries,and puts in 100% effort,Fev have no stars just plenty of triers,ive every confidence in Basil,and the lads to turn things round.

Oh I have a favourite player, James Taylor! Not got the most talent with the ball but my god does he put his shoulder in when he tackles!

I'm with you on Basil, next year I reckon we'll win the league.

I would like to agree Basil is the best. What amazes me is he has turned us round so quickly and without asking or accepting one word of advice from me.

I would just like to pass comment on Armistead. Last season he was not good but I think he has been a relevation this season and is consistent. He also does a lot of work for the club off the pitch. Well done lad it seems my comments to you last season in a pub in Barrow at 1-30am after that awful game last season where taken on board.

Can't argue with much of what you say, although I would raise a couple of points.

I think we actually released Duffy because he reluctantly accepted a better financial offer - I believe he wanted to stay at Leigh, but had a family to think of.

Nanyn is something of an enigma. We can all find faults, yet I was surprised to learn that he has scored 236 points this season, and has regularly topped 300-400, wherever he has been. I know he's the goal kicker, but that is a skill, that shouldn't be treated lightly.

In my opinion, both these guys are fine in the Championship.

Ive never been a big fan of Jimmy Taylor,again nowt wrong with the lads effort,and he tackles everything, but he Never makes a break,as for winning the League next year,this year is not over yet,Fev dont bother me,or Fax or Widnes,Barrow are a force obviously because of their speed out wide,but i still feel we will come up with the goods when it matters.
