When did they last ask that question tho? I'm sure on here the idea of giving Saturday a chance was actually quite popular. May not work but worth a punt, but not as a one off game as that is just confusing.
Also excellent ideas from AD. The first thing that popped into my head about Bradford when we drew them in the cup was the big beer tent thing for example. A lot of the fun day ideas would be ideal for Saturday evening KOs.

then perhaps they shouldn't ask the question & just change the day but remember to give plenty of notice.
did they ask potential new customers or did they just ask us who turn up religiously every sunday afternoon?

No it doesn't JC, I don't think there's ever been enough interest in it before, but we've never had a town centre outlet before either. If you sell these on the premises (LSV) then only the rugby fans will see it and buy it, but if you sell it in Leigh town centre, then folk will buy it for their Mums, Dads, brothers and sisters, even if they aren't Leigh Centurions fans.
That's my opinion anyway.

| Quote ="Honest Joe"The problem is now that everyone knows we will never get to SL. Even if we were good enough, the RL would never allow us in as long as there was still a team in France, Wales, Ireland or wherever that isn't in SL. I say this not as a protest against expansion, but as fact. And without the SL dream we will never get fans back again. How many did we take to Widnes when we beat Whitehaven to get promotion? 7000?? We'll never get that again unless we somehow have a real chance of promotion. As long as we have a franchise system, we will never get in SL, and everyone knows it.'"
How many was the average for league games that season ? It was a one off game you mention.
Its just another excuse you are making for the problem we have, which isn't solving it. It also doesn't help so called fans banging on about SL to others instead of banging on about what is happening now.
If we are consistently successful on the pitch with a great match day experience, get good regular gates, and run a good ship then that is success - SL is a pipe dream at moment until we get those sorted.

Not giving away Fred, just offering a reduction in price for shelling out for two games in quick succession - you'd still be paying a price for the ticket and therefore retaining 'ownership', as it were.
Think the merchandise issue needs sorting as a matter of urgency though.
On the issue of matchdays, I voted for Sunday's last time around but would actually quite happily vote to keep Sunday's free these days and play on a Saturday night, which seemed to be a popular option when we played Toulouse.

| The club does a lot of telling and no selling.
Great initiative with junior clubs but what will happen, great offer for u11's ST but what happened?
Basil is banging the drum in the press but LSV is not in peoples hearts and we must make it part of our sporting life. I hate the place, I miss the craic at HP, I miss the MM bar as a meet up place.
We right royally luvved up last year but we are a different club this year, if we wish to remain competitive we must increase gates and revenue streams. To do so we must recreate the craic and make LSV part of our lifes, and if getting the captive converts aka ST Holders to buy into the dream and go the extra mile to get another family member to a game via an offer so be it.
But we do need cash turnstyles for average games and we do need discounts for advance purchases, not now and again but every week, we must make it easier for new/old fans to return and once in to enjoy the experience.

i think a stall in the mall sounds like a really good idea-selling loads of different leigh rugby products but perhaps more importantly the club would have the ability to sell its self to hundreds of people of all ages every time the stall was open.
i suppose the only problem would be financing it.

| Well yes they would obviously need the initial financing but if you noticed, I didn't put any replica kits on the list (though it would be nice to have some - even if it has to be pre ordered). The reason I didn't put replicas on is that you need to have a huge stock of sizes etc and then they all have to be sold of cheaply when the new kit comes out.
With the other stuff, once you've bought it, then it pretty much sells itself.
I just look at the stuff they sell in the card shop (Card factory?). Notebooks, pens - all sorts of cheap stuff that kids can afford or that Mum will just see and can buy without breaking the bank.
I really do think it would work.

| Quote ="Alexs Dad"1. Cash turnstyles
2. £2 off if ticket is bought 48 hours in advance
3. £25 family ticket 2+2
4. Combined marketing. I get plenty about Boogie Nights from LSV, none about filling their stadium.
5. Keep Sunday free - Saturday evenings in summer with BBQ, beer tents, and family entertainment.
6. Flyers on every car in Asda, Sainsburys, town centre etc.
7. A trailer unit at major road junctions along the Lancs/Bypass with the next fixture on.
8. Free tickets to all schools - the one with the most attending wins £500 of O'neills sports equipment.
9. BRING A MATE!!
10. Lay on 5 free coaches for away fans. Net gate and pie receipts > net cost = better atmosphere. Even if there are 250 it's 10 times more away fans than we normally get.
11. Facebook/Bebo/Twitter pages for next games. Invites have a pyramid affect with these things and are read by more folk than get the bloody Journal.
12. Make the Legends Bar Legendary rather than looking like a spare room in a sports centre. Get some pictures up, provide a pan of lobby, get some facepainter type folk in for the kids, hold the Lisa meeting at 1.30, have it as one of Brian Bowmans regular Past Players get togethers, show the highlights of last weeks game, and get all non playing squad members in there.
13. I can get a plateful of fish chips and peas, and a pint of ice cold Stella in the Park Inn and sit comfortably watching the Sky Sports until 2.55pm for £7.50. Why on earth would I pay £5 for a pie and a pint of pi55 in a plastic glass?
14. The tralier we bought - set it up on matchday with merchandise and Lisa mambership opportunities.
None of the above costs much money.
It's better than freebies and requires a dedicate team of people and about £3000 per game. You only need 300 more paying people in the ground, 250 of which will come on free coaches, and its broke even. If there is no uptake on the coaches then the cost will be proportionally lower so the risk is minimal.
If we have to rebrand Lisa on the back of it and use some of those funds to kick start it then maybe it needs thinking about.
We have the most fickle fans in the country but shrugging our shoulders and pointing at everyone else wont solve it. We all need to get our s in gear.'"
Agree with every single one ste
2 others which are a must
1 , the club must somehow get control of ticket sales , it is an absolute disgrace that tickets can only be sold at the LSV , the LSV management are basically saying that they dont trust the club and the clubs employee's , they are essentially saying they are dishonest and are thieve's , when sales for the 1 st matches were being made there were LSV management actually ' watching ' the clubs staff taking payment , if I'd have been one of those staff I would have told them to stuff their job
2 , the clubs outside SL need to start to work together to make the competition stronger , the RFL either dont know how to make it and the clubs in it stronger , or they dont care about making it stronger , it must be led by the clubs , being a strong club in a weak competition is no good for developing your fan base and therefore your business , we are not a single business in competition with the others as say a local snack bar is in competition with Mac d's and Subway , we are more like the local mac d and subway , the stronger the brand becomes the stronger we can and will become

| Can refunds for tickets be processed? If so (which it should be) why can't say 100 tickets be bought and then sold on or given out by a sponsor or something? If tickets are unsold or not given out then get a refund on balance.

Simple isn't it , the ticket office staff have been running a RL club for years let alone the sales of tickets , but did the Stadium management put these people in positions to make decisions when they started running the place ? , no , as with most council run organisations they are incredibly badly run with massive wastage and far too many ' made up ' jobs , this is all the way from top to bottom , too many chiefs having too many meetings with agenda's focussed more on keeping themselves in ' easy ' positions rather than actually making the thing a success

| it won't happen overnight. despite an excellent start in a non promotion league.
don't know about anyone else, but no advertising will make me do anything i don't want to. You can make people 'aware' of the games, offer incentives etc. WE shouldn't need that. 4100 for our first ever home game in Sooper League, tells is as it actually is.
MAGIC WAND anyone?

| We were discussing this issue yesterday. Many people around town were asking how they had gone on - so there is some interest there - but I believe not enough to go to games. I think for the following reasons:-
1) games used to be mostly played on a Sunday and generally one home and then one away and so on. You got into a routine that Sunday was your rugby day. Now this is not the case and therefore you cannot have that routine. It is unbelievable that we do not have one home game in the whole of July.
2) as many have said in the past, with no promotion what is the point. It didn't matter very much if we beat Sheffield yesterday or not. We can still "tick the box" later - and even if we did we are not gauranteed promotion.
Lack of regular games and lack of incentive have lost people's interest to go to games.

| the merchandise is a must! i want a sticker for my back window of my car, the bits n bobs will sell quite good!
im sure setting up a stall in the market would be great! im presuming to set a stall up you have to pay some sort of fee? maybe we could advertise the market on the screens, so we dont need to pay to sell there

| ALL advertising at the LSV goes through them not the club so deals like the one proposed are not viable.
The last time they had a 'market stall' at any other time but Christmas it was an expensive flop.

| Our Andy was at one time setting up an online shop, he was beta testing it a couple of weeks ago, but again who is going to run it, AFAIK no one has any retail experience and finances have never been enough to run a shop certainly not an 'off-line' one, and whilst the LSV management doesn't seem to mind the staff selling small items what would be the feeling if they ran an a bigger stock from there? and is there anywhere where stock can be held? selling 'stuff' on match days would be out of the question so when should it be sold? and by whom? after all it has to make a profit.
Same thing with an on-line shop, the majority of sales would have to be dealt with on a fast turnaround, they are operating with a staff member short as it is so who does it?and where? and when? I have no room for stock at my place and I would think no one else at the club has.

| One answer to most of the problems that all clubs have
Collaberation between clubs
I repeat , we are NOT in competition with any other Championship club apart from when we play them , and for a 1/2 month period in the close season when players are being signed
For the other 10 months of the year we need to be working together
Until that happens we will get nowhere

According to the E-News, something to exactly that effect will be happening for the Widnes game. Would like to think that those tickets will be in the East Stand, would look great to have all four stands well-populated.

| I understand the question was asked when in SL, the logical answer would be sunday 3pm due to local away support, the suitability of HP outside peak summer and live games on Sky on Friday nights.
Now Saturday evenings must be tried 6pm ko, imho. No away support to worry about and it leaves Sunday as family day.
