| Well we need to improve our defence, it was diabolical fist half. Our general approach second half was OK but I guess they took their foot off the accelerator somewhat. Yes, our pack does look lightweight and will be tested to the full next week against Wi*an. Injuries in the first game don't bode well for the task in hand. Hope we don't pick up any more next week. Didn't notice many injuries on their part, perhaps it's just the fitness level difference or maybe just our bad luck!

| Is it true Wigan are bringing the academy lads next week? If so I'm not forking out £14 for that, sorry but thats not in the spirit of the fixture to be honest.

Must admit i felt the same but after today we need to play a team we can compete with as it wont do any good being on the other end of another high score .I want to see what we can do and that was never going to happen today as were are far too good for us.

| Who knows, as I said though in a post last week, Wigan might send the likes of Davies, Farrell, Vievers, Thornley, Gee, Howarth etc next week but they will be a good test for us, these lads are looking to break into the Wigan side.

You're playing against blokes who are physically so much bigger than you.
I felt sorry for some of your lads with the tackling, somebody should have had a word with Ben Harrison and told him it was only a friendly against part time opposition.
your lad at the end...ouchh

| It shows you how you should play.
That game today was nowhere near SL pace but if your guys can improve next week (without getting 3 more players carried off) then it stands you in good stead for the season.

| can't believe no one has mentioned ridyard. We looked a different team with him at six.
as for the lightweight pack, I think Bibey and JT will soon sort that out.
Chris Hill was our best player by a long way.
Not too disappointed with the performance, Wire were clinical in attack, quite simply we are leagues apart. Hopefully the lads will learn from today...
For me our first real benchmark game will be Fev in the NRC. Always a bogey side for us.

Massive hit from Ben Harrison which obviously caused Mort a lot of distress to put it mildly! However he did pick himself up and score the games final try which shows character.
All in all the game was pretty much how i expected it to go. Warrington imo look a top 4 side.
The 3 trys we scored where well worked, Jock went well, as did Robbie Paul, actually thought Ridyard put in a tidy game, Chris Hill looks as though he can step up a level and was our stand out player.
The consolation of todays game is we won't face a tougher or better team all season.

| Very dissapointed with the 1 st half , but considering the barmy penatlies in the 1 st ten minutes and the fact they have spent a week warm weather training [ ,not to mention a full 1 st team it wasn't unexpected and only Widnes,Fax and Barrow would have withstood it better than us
2nd half was much better , shame we hadn't played Salford first

| I thought Wire played some superb stuff in the first half particularly.
Mathers had a game and a half and I thought Solomina's offloads were brilliant and that kick he made to the corner was something you don,t expect to see from a forward of his size. Wire are a formidable side and should go well this season.
Re us I thought we showed some good touches and ran angles which was something we did not do last season. I also liked the way we looked to keep the ball alive.
For me our best performances where C Hill as usual' McConnell Ridyard and Robbie Paul.
We will do a lot better than last season and I truly believe we will score a lot of points.
We will also get better as the season goes on. I did not think the match was poor and to have a second half score of 24-16 speaks volumes for the never say die attitude of our side.

| 36 - 0 down at half time and never gave up. Leigh can hold their heads up. I thought Ridyard played some excellent rugby and should be our number 6 for the season. He will come on leaps and bounds under Millward. Higson was very good when he came on also. We will be in for a very good season. we were playing a full time team who will be challenging Saints and leeds. They have just come back from Tenerife being coached by Smith and Andrew Johns. I expected them to score 50 or 60 but I didn't expect us to score 3 tries, so well done Leigh.

| Quote ="Leyther_till_death"I don't know what people were expecting. We were never going to win the game, infact I expected to lose by 30+ seeing the teams line up during the week. We'd lost the game within the first 10 mintues. The first half was very poor. Our defence through the middle was poor and also out wide.
Warrington will be a top 4 Super League side next season and had top quaility internationals throughout the team the closest in that respect we could get to that is Duffy and Nanyn playing for Scotland.
However, I was pleased with how we played in the second half, we acutally did look alot more dangourous when attacking than we did last season, with options and people backing up on the side (albeit Chris Hill in the first half when Paul made half a break).
In particular I was impressed with Chris Hill as always, Andy Ainscough looks abit of a prospect and Nicky Stanton should always start in place of Maden. =#FF0000Our long kicking game at times was poor, however Paul's short kicking game could see us score some points and get plenty repeat sets. My MOM though was Dave McConnell, when he came on he made things happen and caused Warrington some problems.'"
It did look that way (our long kicking game) but did you see how they dealt with it? In effect, they emplyoyed two full-backs, on defence (Mathers and King) each about 15 metres in from touch. That made it extremely difficult to put an effective long kick anywhere. Perhaps we could learn from that, on defence?
