Another site has just had a comment regarding the intervention of Sport England, dont know how much truth is in this yet though! Message was favourable to Leigh East!

Back from where? East or council?

My understanding was East had a meeting with Sports England Representatives yesterday and I think they are willing to act in an arbitrational role, whether the council are willing to accept that is another matter.

Just had a text off a mate whose kids play for u 15 & 14 asking if there is any news on what has happened today...

I still got al my fingers crossed.... (Twas difficult typing)

Me thinks there will be a lot of calls going back and forth today. I only hope sense prevails and a fair outcome is reached. I am sure that Keith will fill everyone in on whats been going on. I have just read a post that he put on the East board in July where he states that A Burnham shook his hand and told him that Leigh East will not be kicked out of their home. I hope he is true to his word.

Not being evicted today ,as more negotiations are to take place over the coming weeks.BBC tv now involved along with other press so get ready for the ride.

Don't forget, he is a politician

My vote for Mr Burnham is riding on this very issue.

If he allows Leigh East to be kicked out of LSV for anything other than being completely unreasonable then he should lose the support of every reasonable person in this town.

Mine too - I was saying exactly the same thing this morning.

And me. If he doesn't carry on supporting Leigh East he will be left looking very meek after his documented support of their cause.

You took the words out of my mouth there, he should be shouting from the rooftops about this issue and the council need x%*"ing for the way they have acted in all of this.

Anyroad, I voted for Burnham when he said he'd deliver the LSV, so he will retain my vote if he sorts this mess out.

I believe East were told by the Council 'To tell Burnham that it's got nothing to do with him, so tell him to keep out of it'.

It's your local Councillor who needs to know how you feel now and to realise that come the next batch of local elections their position is vulnerable.

It was the council cheif exec who told him to butt out of local politics, the same one that ducked and hid away from meeting sport england.Im led to believe our MP has had words with her.

Weren't telling him to but out, when he was championing the cause...

Look at it this way I don't think Wigan Council need the bad press of evicting an amateur rugby club 1 year into it's new home because they've put the bloody rent up already.

The country is in recession which is something the LSV committee seem to have forgotten. They've had some praise from Leigh Centurions recently but they won't be getting any from me.

But is he not the MP for Leigh as well as some big wig in the cabinet. Or do they give up on their constituency when they move to central government? Who is this chief exec who said this and does he or she have any vested interests in the LSV? Is wigan council not a Labour run council and why can an elected MP in the government in power (which is Labour if I'm not mistaken) not have a say in such a matter. The sooner Leigh Borough Council (and nothing to do with Wigan)is brought back the better.
