To be honest, I'm thinking our game vs. Haven won't matter in the end. My guess is Gateshead will beat Doncaster and Batley will beat Fev sending us down, regardless of what we do on Sunday.



The one thing Sunday's game does do is give us hope.

As RFF pointed out, relegation might not be the end of the world. Boy do we need to re-group. The deadwood needs to be swept out of the club from top to bottom. Relegation would enable us to do that, without serious ramifications, and I'd still expect us to be promoted next season (especially if all our new signings will be Kosher in CC1). Lower ticket prices plus a winning team, playing a decent brand of rugby, might inject some of the feel good factor back into the club. The club can then kick on from there and hopefully come back stronger.

Fate is amazing,Deakin getting sacked on Saturday,could of got us relegated,as Barrow would of not been in the right frame of mind.Whitehaven scoring in injury time when the game should of been over.Watson going on holiday because it was a free weekend,then was'nt.

Every team will have similar stories and I as much as anyone have a persecution complex regarding Leigh,but at the end of the day,we have not recruited well,or played well in key games.Effort has been their but skill and guile in the oppositions 25 has been woeful and that is why we are in the position we are in now.

I personally think all 3 teams at the bottom will win,Tolouse will lose and we will finish 3rd from bottom and get relegated,now that will hurt.

There were only 2 draws in the league this year as well, both between Gateshead and Batley, so if either side could have won both then they'd be in a happier position. However, if they had won one each, and each got a bonus point in the reverse they'd be in the same position (4 points out of the 2 matches)!

it's a funny old game, one minute Leigh need to beat Whitehaven to win the Championship, the next Leigh need to beat Whitehaven to have a chance of staying up.

Both games were drawn = 4 points each
IF they won one each and earned a bonus point from their loss = 4 points each

IF one team won both and the other got a bonus point each time = 6 points to one and 2 to the other
IF one team won both and the other got 1 bonus point from one of the matches = 6 points to one team and 1 point to the other
IF one team won both and the other team earned no bonus points from either match then = 6 points to one team and 0 points to the other
IF one team won won one match and the other was drawn then = one team with 5 points and the other with 3 points if they gained a bonus point and 2 points if they did not .

There were 2 possible scenarios (one which happenned, but one which didn't) which could have left us in the position we are in now, but there were 4 other outcomes which would have meant we only would have to have won on Sunday to be safe.
