Great that we have another signing..but all I am worried about now is staying up! I suppose the board cannot win...if they were not signing players we would be getting on their backs for not planning ahead!

I can only assume (and hope) that management already know that we will not be relegated (merge back to one division) as it seems crazy to me to have a top coach and 2 SL class players with a Champ 1 salary cap.

If the salary cap IS dropping for Championship next year, it might be because one division is being formed and the RFL wanted to keep the total salaries at a similar level to this year so they simply went for the average of the 2.

Despite being a Chartered Accountant I can't be bothered working out if the averages support the theory!

Where are you planning to play 40 games in 1 season then? Some sides struggling to get the 20 in now!

You don't play everyone home and away, it'd mean a return to the bizarre fixture systems of the NFP days. And it'd be a disaster IMO.

I think thats because of all the free weekends though my mate but i may be wrong.

as it stands at the moment there is not enough revenue coming through the gates because of the lack of games, more games are a must if teams below SL are to survive without the owners forever putting thier hands in thier pockets or else it will be £20 a game in no time.

10 home fixtures with average 1500 as now would still be preferable to 16 games or so, with most under 1000, as if just one league, there would be no guarentees you'd play widnes , fax at home etc....

For the First season,everyone in current 1st Division plays each other twice
and all Second Division clubs once,the Second Division clubs do this in reverse.

Top 8 play off at end of season, then following season who you play twice is based on seeding .

Not ideal but much better than only playing once every blue moon at home as is the current scenario.

For me 1 league is the only way forward or extend the First Division to 14 clubs and introduce Conference teams to the Second Division.

This would mean that a mid-table Championship side (let's say Sheffield) would win all of their games against Div 2 sides, win half of their games against 1st Div sides, lose the other half.

A good Championship 1 side (let's say Dewsbury) would win all their games against Div 2 sides but lose their games against Div1 sides.

That would leave Sheffield and Dewsbury on level points, despite the fact that Sheffield should be 5 or 6 places above Dewsbury?

If i'm honest the set up i'd like to see would be....
8 Team Elite League (Top 8 SL clubs)
14 Team SL (Rest of SL & Top half of Championship)
14 Team Championship (All the rest plus 1 UK development club, Hemel or suchlike).

However back on topic, lets hope the annoucement is made when we are in a good mood as we are so far in front of the opposition at Half Time

I am completely flummoxed now with all these scenarios. I hope its all sorted out before I get back from Florida. I am hoping its not Danny signing or Gannon. I would love the club to supprise us with a good piece of news. Not saying Danny's isn't. When I was down south I was watching one of our games in the pub and Danny drove a ball in from the kickoff and Barry or Terry said " thats the way to run the ball in from a kick off ". Danny will be one of our greats like Chris Hill has become. Watching all three games on sat before I go.
