SaBadSel"Not trying to be a Doom Monger here but we need to face the reality of what the future holds.
IF relegated we would i imagine face the following:-
Lower crowds
Think the crowds will remain the same, for LSV factor replace it with Millward factor, we (should) win more so that will bring in a few extra over the season to make up for not playing Widnes (our one away following match)
Players Leave
I would hope a large percentage of players will be leaving whatever happens , that is unless they start to wake up and play for the shirt / fans.
Unable to attract decent players
No different than this year, if the club pays well it will attract the right players.
Reduced salary cap
Not sure how it would work, reduced admittedly , but we'd be one of the biggest clubs in Champ 2 (in terms of support).
Unable to apply for super league next franchise round
Would save us wasting some money, no chance of SL unless we average 4,000 and win some trophys (nd even then I would back Gteshead or Toulouse on gates of 3-400 to 'go up' instead)
Could we afford to play in the LSV?
Not much different than now.
Would Millward come over if this happens?
Apparantly he has said so.
Don't get me wrong I think it would be really really bad if we went down, however this season IS really really bad and just as damaging as going down (does zero for the club to be hammered at home by Gateshead etc).
The questions I have is just how the club has allowed itself to get in this dire situation.

Well one of the ways is early doors we have tried to follow the RFL's recomendations and tried to have more home ' grown ' talent in our squad
Remember Mr Lewis's remarks to Gordon Burns
You have to ask the question , is it worth it ? , or are you better off just getting a load of Brit passported aussies and jacking in the reserves ? |

Televised remarks that could be used as evidence should we ever have the balls to stand up to the tinpot tennis apologist & his yorkshire mafia. Damn right I remember them. Any SL club denied in the franchise decision would have had a legal team crawling all over things like that NW Tonight tape. That's why they all got back in.
So we don't learn from our mistakes then, and we're happy to continue getting screwed over at every opportunity. Or should we do something about it?
We were told for years that ground standards were what it was all about. Widnes already had theirs so who was the ONLY club (certainly out of the challengers but possibly in the whole of RL unless I'm mistaken, maybe Donny would be in the right timeframe as well) to deliver a new ground in that period? Leigh. Who did they let in? Salford & Celtics. Why should we continue to believe the crap and get kicked in the teeth? Sod it. Either challenge the system or get smart & make the rules work for us for a change. Push the salary cap to its limits (finances permitting), and flout the bendable rules like every other bugger. And if they turn us down for doing the same as everybody else we've got a like-for-like situation on which to challenge the decision. At least then we'll be on a level playing field for once in our lives. |
