Fantastic and really happy for you all. The good thing is with no Relegation next year is there is no need to buy a team to survive nor do you need to tick a box. For me Leigh would be best signing a load of locals (Wigan, Leigh, St.Helens;Warrington area) and unwanted academy players that are not expensive and a couple of experienced heads. No need to pay lots out next year. See how things go and maybe look to add more bigger names in 2013. 2012 is all about rebuilding. Nobody is expecting you to be up at the top so there should be no pressure. All the best and least the only way is up and you still have a great club.

Congratulations on still having your team, it's going to be a long year next however you've ticked a box, why bother shredding through money when what would be the most sensible option would be to do a 'widnes'. You may not like it but if you want to be back up there in the long term it's what's required.

I guess the initial rejection that had many worried last night was expected with this back up plan always in place which is great. I think unlike other clubs the RFL can be confident that Leigh can operate despite this money going (or pay back if working that way in some %).

No relegation next year means no desperate rush to snap up players, you had a good 23's that can be moved up and anyway still plenty of good champ players about without contracts from within and those we / Fax and maybe even few Crusaders.

Good to see the RFL help out Championships & at long last realise that the heartland clubs are worthy of their help.

Hopefully if any other Champ clubs hit hard times then can help them out also, now they are not bailing out "SL expansion clubs" came to late for Blackpool though.

Thanks Peter and RL fans everywhere who have taken the trouble to help us and for their support.

I'd like to say thank you to Trevor Barton, Keith Freer and Phil Coffee for putting us in the position where this could happen. We needed to submit a business plan for next season to the RFL to secure this money, and we came up with a budget that the RFL could back. That would have taken a lot of work, and these people need to be thanked for rescuing our club from the brink. There's plenty who came before them that allowed the club to fold, but not these guys.

Also, thank you to anyone else who helped put the business plan together and remains unnamed.

Yes a big thanks to everyone who has contributed to this. Lets get on with building a team now and getting everything put in place to be self sufficient. As soon as possible let's get the season tickets on sale and get the Touchdown Club started. I already rejoined LISA last season and intend to take extra Super Leigh tickets from my brother who has just become an agent. Everyone can do something no matter how small, it will all help the club.

If we all do whatever we can we will soon be in a happy place, onwards and upwards - don't you just love the ride

As I have stated on our forum (fev) I for one am really pleased with this outcome. J think the rfl have used common sense here, and I would love to see a competitive Leigh side asap, as last season you really gave us a good run for the league shield.
