The Batley game is a late kick off to allow me to work in the afternoon á la zombie after a late return from Toulouse!

By all accounts Perpignan was completely shut down (bar the Irish bar) when Wigan were there Easter Monday this year; hopefully the place only shuts down on Easter Sunday!

Just realised i miss York away due to work. (was looking forward to a weekend up there) Widnes at home against sky's on my 30th birthday, might have to book the friday off work then

Wouldn't you think that when there are two games in four days that the RFL would bring the French clubs over here for both of them. It would benefit their fans too. They could have a bit of a jolly up. Who do Widnes, Fax, Fetherstone and Barrow have over the Easter weekend?

Widnes and don't play on Good Friday, not sure on the rest of their fixtures though.

Another masterstroke from the RFL, last year we played Widnes away, Barrow at home and Toulouse away in the space of 9/10 days and this year we have Halifax away, Toulouse Away and Batley at home. Surely thats the thoughest Easter period over the two years?

I know it's hard for them to schedule fixtures around other things but why no traditional game with Widnes on Good Friday? Or even the Thursday?

With the greatest respect to whoever did the fixture list (and being totally ignorant to any other reasons why Widnes have no game on the busiest day fanwise in our RL season) wouldn't it have made good sense from a 'raise the leagues profile' , 'fan attendance' and 'financial sense' to have Widnes v Leigh on Good Friday and leave Toulouse with no Good Friday fixture.
I suppose it comes down to SKY wanting to show it later in the year and the RFL wanting to maximise support in France for the Good Friday fixture.
I knew that when I read that we had took more fans that most clubs to Toulouse would come back & bite us on the backside at some point



As Snowy rightly points out though, the fact we are discussing Championship fixtures (and not complaining about having to play London Skolars away Good Friday) is a [ihuge[/i bonus , Looking forward to it

Think it's as simple as our fixtures being a straight replacement for Gateshead's. If that's the price we have to pay for staying up, then so be it.

Do each club get a bye weekend ?
Surely would be better switching our weekend off to the Monday, and Batley playing the club that is off Monday at mo - if this makes sense.

It does make sense.
I suppose though even within the club people would disagree.
The coach would want just 1 game over Easter , whereas the guys that pay the bills wouldn't want to see a moneyspinning Bank Holiday fixture dissapear.

I think you will find that with Good Friday may well be the Widnes 'weekend off' or bye as Aussies call it fixture, like ive said in a previous post the club put several suggestions to the RFL all were rejected but the final request for the late KO on the monday.

Did we ask for our free weekend to be moved to Monday, and whoever it was now swap and play Batley? Can't see how RFL could refuse unless Batley or whoever other club is refused to go with it.

Couldn't agree more re fixtures, all's I know from talking to different people is that the club have ben in discussions with the RFL since the draft fixtures were out and have put forward several (details of which are known only to the RFL and whoever was negotiating) 'ideas' none of then except the later KO seemed acceptable to the RFL.
However to be fair I never asked specifics and TBH don't intend to, thats not stopping anyone else from doing so though.

sensible, RFL, RFL sensible, sorry I can't think of a sentence that the two could go together with?

The RFL never cease to amaze me and that includes putting us back up too ,i suppose it must make them feel better sending us to France instead of a good localish derby ,its their way of showing us who the boss is i suppose.

I have just cut out the fixture list out of the Leigh Journal and noticed that the Widnes game on July 25th is shown as a home fixture. I presume this is just a typo on the fixture list unless we are getting to play Widnes twice at home.
