By the way I think there is no reason why a well run Leigh RL cannot break even in the medium term but there are obviously lots of things which would need to change to achieve this.

Would share holders be asked to pay monthly subscriptions?.
Wouldn't that just limit the number of people you could engage with?.
Would it not be better to try to sell an idea to a very large number of people and try to get them to subscribe to £30/£50 a year?.
For that to happen you would need to be a REAL,PROPER community club and thats a serious operation

For me the most impressive part of the Barca Experience isn’t the trophies, the Stadium, the tunnel, the changing rooms etc. It’s the last room you go through as you leave, as you enter the room there’s a wall of screens with fans faces on all shouting and cheering, then they have a photo of every player who’s played for them on a stem, the sign says ‘These are our flowers’.

On the wall behind the flowers is the name of every supporter registered with the club, slowly these names cascade down the wall and breakup as they reach the flowers, the sign on the wall says ‘These are our rain drops without which our flowers would never bloom’

Not a clue what Lewes are doing nor Barca tonight.

Being joined at the hip with every amateur and kids sports club be they RL,RU,cricket,football etc this side of the borough.

Clubs/organisations working together to have sports days a few times a year held in leigh/atherton etc.

Get that bloody East stand opened and get it packed out.

Anything that gets kids,parents and grandparent interacting with Leigh centurions.

The above ideas plus the many i know you and others can think of are vital if you want people to buy into an idea.

Any monies raised for the club thru shares should imo be ploughed back into these kinds of projects.

I would certainly champion a large budget towards these kinds of initiatives if I were sat on a board of any description fan owned or not.

Fan ownership is a genuine way forward for the club, but surely could only succeed if our present debt situation was sorted out first. Should be open for discussion at next Lisa meeting.

PG's is my guess, yet they are comparatively small, was it £40k after AT settled his?

I know people have put a lot of time, money and effort into the Club in the past and I think this should be recognised. Maybe set up a Presidents Club and make people who have invested or given their valuable time to the Club honary members where they get a season ticket and access to the main room for all games. However despite these good deeds of the past it is time to wipe the slate clean because it seems to me that these past debts are holding back the Club going forward. Do we know how much it is? If it is £40,000 then have the Director's who have given PG's to cover this been asked to fulfill these obligations so that the Club can move forward on a fresh footing? In order that a detailed discussion can take place about a fan owned Club then everything needs to be laid on the table and a frank and honest discussion with the BOD, LISA and the TDC needs to take place. I don't think the fans forum is the correct place to air this initially but if it is decided to proceed with a fan owned Club then a dedicated forum open to everybody needs to take place.

My guess would be that the bank wouldn't lend money without them.

Fantastic City, if you have time, do all three hop on hop off tour buses, can’t remember which does which now but say the Green one does the beaches, port, sea front etc. the Red does the sports Olympic stadium, Nou Camp etc, and the Blue one does the Cathedral, Gaudi buildings and Gothic quarter. It’s a very big City and each bus takes around 2hrs without getting off, so we did one each day as its thirsty work being a tourist.



If you’ve not got time, skip the beach one.

And if you go on La Rambles, watch your wallet not all the street entertainers are for your benefit, and if like me you decide to take your mixed party, on a walk-about tour by turning right off La Rambles as you are walking down towards the sea. Be aware there’s a lot of cheeky ladies down there.

Pat, nowt to do with me except it has my support. Generally what happens now is the people behind it have the closed door discussions and announce 'what's next'

Exciting times ahead.

At my age nothing much excites me, but the opportunity of being a small share holder in Leigh RLFC in return for a small donation into the club I have followed all my life is something I will anticipate with relish. It would also gain me a small sense of pride in 'My club'

I would also purchase an equal share for my young nephew in 'His hometown club'

We had shareholders before (since 1947) yet that didn't stop the club going broke in the 90's, I'm not against the idea just pointing out that one little fact, plus and I know this has been said but shareholders only get to vote directors to the board, not on how a company is ran, but I do agree a major change is needed.
