Are we going to leave it too late & get Richard Marshall ?

All my optimism will go out of the window if Richard Marshall is given the job , he couldn’t coach my Scottish terriers to sit up , getting him will be a step backwards .

Don't understand the agenda against Marshall, to be honest. Did a good job at Halifax over 5 seasons there, playing a good brand of rugby. Holbrook obviously thought a lot of him to get him as assistant. Woolf then kept him on there. Didn't go great at Salford, granted, but that was a poor squad and it was always going to be difficult to follow Watson.

Ward, on the other hand, seems to have been built up as a messiah on the basis of winning promotion through the middle 8's, then giving a decent crack in Super League. This was then followed by an underwhelming performance in the championship. If that's what we're going for, may as well give Jukes the gig again...

Maybe I'm missing something, but Marshall seems like our best bet. Interested to see why people are against it..

Leyther , I know a few fans personally , and they wouldn’t have him back for anything , most could be an understudy at Saints , if no Danny Ward , we need to look elsewhere , and not go for a guy on the cheap.

Great news for any team in the Championship with top 6 ambitions if it is Marshall. Marshall tends to be very stubborn as a coach and awful when it comes to discipline, maybe Chester helps him in that respect but between him and Degsy this will be a match made in hell.

And please do not let it be from someone within or strong connections to the club, after in decending order Rowley, Jukes, Purtill, Duffy and Haggerty that format has been done to death. Someone mentioned Mickey Higham but please no, unproven and he has too strong a connection with Mr Beaumont, we need someone who will say "Derek go away and leave me to get on with the job I am being paid to do" somehow I don't believe that has happened in the list above that Mr B has previously employed.

Just go on the Fax Forum to see their opinions of Marshall, they even think they have a good chance of finishing higher than us if he comes to Leigh .

I think we have a good chance of finishing higher than Leigh whether you get Marshall or not.

That remains to be seen , as we haven’t announced the majority of next seasons signings yet , I saw your remark saying we are in a state of disarray, but again we will see .

Irrelevant, quite frankly. Holbrook, Woolf and Chester clearly all rate him, that's good enough for me.

All down to opinions really , it wouldn’t be a hard job to be assistant at Saints , but nowt at Fax and Salford .

He put Fax into the mid 8 money 3/4 with Fax paying down debt instead of investing in going FT for a crack at SL - ie no ambition. I cant comment on how good or bad they were but they rattled us a few times.

One of his biggest failings were his signings. Everytime we made the middle 8's and he got extra money to strengthen the team the players he brought in couldn't cut it so much so that by the time he left the team was pretty much still Karl Harrison's team from when he took over. Then in the last season or two he had the chance to bring in a number of quality players like Adam O Brien and Liam Hood but was too loyal to certain players when they should have been moved along to freshen the team up. When Grix took over he ended up with an ageing team that was way past its best and its taken him nearly 2 and a half seasons to sort out.

If he does not have control over signings and does not have to deal with deiscipline problems then he could be a good coach but if that were the case he may as well be an assistant. He is a really good bloke but unfortunatley I don't think he is cut out to be a head coach.

Not a fan of marshall, if it is him, bit will still get my season ticket x 3. He did a decent job at fax with no resources. Salford was a poisoned chalice. Has experience so would be decent. If not him will back whoever.
