Spot on. Not sure how the Cumbrian players (and even the Cumbrian fans?!) would feel about training sessions being shifted to another county - don't think this was the case even when Steve Mac was there with a shedload of Lancs players.

Apparently Lee has given this task , and job to attract better players , hes been offered a coaching post at Haven , i dont think the Haven fans would care if they had 17 Eskimos playing for them , as long as they are winning and are successful, as for the players some want to get their future sorted as soon as poss , i know for a fact Ste Tyrer was interested in signing for us , before our problems came to light , but then went to Fax .

Fax will p*ss the championship next season, stocking up on the (better) players so no one else can have them. They only have two years to tick a box so looks like next season is their S or B season.

I'm afraid we are in dream land if we take the comment of all 16 current squad players want to stay with us as anything other than a pinch of salt.

Depends on what the alternative option is - the one benefit of being in the Yorkshire League is that, Swinton apart, any competition for signatures will mean travelling 200 miles a week just to go to training.

Good point Matt , but the word Swinton will be crucial in the above statement over the next few months.

Would not surprise one bit to see 50% of those 16 playing for the lions next year wait for at Leigh sports village!!

If that`s the case I`ll still be supporting the lads who turn out for the Leythers...couldn`t care a damn if any sign for the Lions.

He's definetly signed on as an assistant coach to attract and train players from Yorkshire / Lancs. We dont have the luxury of sweeping up SL cast offs and Dual Reg players up here so it seems like a logical thing to do. All our top youngsters are now being hoovered up at 16 by SL clubs leaving us with a gap to fill unfortunately.

Nanyn will be the first to re-sign for Haven.

If true,then hopefully his place in the squad could be taken by a young promising centre such as Tom Armstrong. That would be excellent IMO.

As much as I would love the 16 players to stay if any choose to go to another club then so be it I will eventually get over it and like as been said I will support whoever does stay/comes on board for the ride

I never for a moment expected all 16 will stay whatever happens. I just want a team on the pitch that will compete and wear the shirt with pride. If that means us blooding some youngsters then so be it.

With the reserves we had running its the likes of Pownall & Briscoe that will have to make the step up now. Are there any other prospects from the reserves that could make the plunge? If we are lucky enough to keep Donlan then Pownall could be one of our wingers imo

Isn't that part of the reason Haven went bust, by having too many travelling players last year?

There are others I'd like to stay but aren't sure they will or even agree to new terms so we'll just have to sit tight and hope but the above wouldn't be a bad starting point.

Like everyone else on here i want to see a competative team at Leigh next season , we must try to get the players signed on as soon as poss our rivals will not be sympathectic to us , so hopefully we cant act soon .

I seem to remember IM saying that Craig Briscoe is also under contract.
