| I know what your coming from but given they were part of another 100000 fans (until they finally realised they had supported a club that had been worldwide commercial whore for 20 years), its not really a suprise they get a decent following.
Lots of die-hard football fans who are fed up with the prima-donnas, all seater stadia, and sky high prices are watching stand up for £8 non-league football now.

| FCUM have an average home attendence of about 1900,today with some promotional work they got over 3000.All I am asking is if we at LRLFC could learn from them.I am not knocking Leigh at all.The FCUM promotion was called Youth United Day & one of the many things they did was to allow all u18`s in for nowt.

FCUM of Manchester's gates have decreased in the past couple of years because Man united have been succesful again. When FCUM first formed it was novelty value and Man united weren't dominating everything.
Out of interest what crowds have Leigh had at home this season? We(halifax) have had over 3000 for our last 2 home games (both against widnes) and on Friday night had more than some of the Super leage clubs.
Looking forward to our trip over there this year, although I think it will have to be put back as we'll be in the CC 5th round when were supposed to play you lot.

| Quote ="heywood jablowme"tripe'" Yep there is plenty spoken.
Yesterday was Youth United day, all U18s in for free and a day of activites organised. Takes loads of planning over a few months and loads of work inviting community groups, football teams etc etc but it is well worth it. The buzz around the ground on these days is superb but the key is to get them back again when the offer of something for nothing isn't there.
If anyone wants to know what kind of activites were on yesterday feel free to pm me (posting on iPod and would take too long to type here)
Would be worthwhile Leigh considering this(and Genesis I reckon) to try and get more through the gate and grab fans for the future.

For the record all groups are followed up and there are initiatives in place to give them other perks on future such as cash back schemes.
Like I say the challenge is to get them back when it isn't free but it's important to get them to door in the 1st place.

It's not so much that they've been successful (there were then, too, more's the pity), but more that the Glazer family haven't actually changed anything, and the rudolph-nosed scots whinger in charge has been able to sign (or hang on to) pretty much who he wanted. Liverpool have. meanwhile, been in corporate-management chaos, Aresnal have had no money, and Chelski have gone through more manager than Man City. Suddenly, the perceived reason for setting up a fans club has melted. The Glazer's aren't that bad, Utd is much the same as it was before, and other clubs have had it for worse from their foreign investors (West Ham? Takhsin Shinawatra??)
So, there's no real 'need' for the fans' team after all. Unlike, say, Wimbledon, who's "club" has gone forever to the home of the concrete cows, leaving Winbledon FC the only actual Wimbledon club in Wimbledon.
Now, if MUFC upped and went to play in Philadelphia or Shanghai, we could all be happy.

| You're not a Bolton fan by any chance Joe are you
Anyway how to get more people through those bigger gates ?
First you need to realise what you want to achieve
Then look at the different ways it can be achieved , this involves understanding how the minds of your target people work
Then formulating a plan
Then having the conviction to see the plan through to it's conclusion
What it doesn't need is having the odd no mark ex celebrity down in half hearted attempts to get people in

| Playing an attractive style of rugby would help considerably... we're far too "up the middle" from what I've seen.
You'd be surprised how many people will turn up to see us throw the ball around a bit more.

| Unfortunately the carrot of getting promoted has gone and I firmly believe that is the main reason for the drop in attendances.
Couple that with the fact people are pretty skint and I think I've covered all the bases with these and the brand of rugby we're playing.
The RFL have effectively ruined our competition which is what they wanted lets be honest.

Yet two thirds of the RFL member clubs continue to allow them to do it

Correct.
The sport over here isn't big enough to support a breakaway I would say and thats the real problem.

It was from a great height that they decreased though, Dave - that period of time saw some bloomin' big crowds for pretty average games; 3k+ for an Arriva group game against Oldham springs to mind, along with the oft-quoted Locomotiv game.
