you'll find most half backs do that at times especially when they are targetted it shifts the oponents point of attack and allows the other team a better defensive pattern as the attacking team has to find another 'target' and when they think they have exploited that the coach changes it again and moves the jalf back, which is exactly what happened at Swinton.

well i stand corrected on the qualification point, still reckon we'll beat haven, and lets be honest folks, do we deserve to go into next round if we can't beat haven at home, but i have comfidence in our boys, i am sure we'll see a top showing from them and ultimately qualification.

James Child, saw him at Fev and he had a shocker, he also refed Widnes vs Oldham and had a poor game. He certainly knows how to ruin a rugby match.








If James Child is the ref in this game , its no wonder 19 penalties so far. He was terrible at Widnes , and apparently as bad at Fev . The man should not be a referee , he has no idea what to do.

Did someone say Hobson was MOM - that surely must be a tongue in cheek comment, he is lazy, he hides from the action and couldn't wait to be brought off after 25 mins - he was looking at the bench constantly after 15 mins waiting for the nod for his rest. His work rate must improve.

Allthe Watto knockers were at at again Sunday, near us.
I thought he played well. my only moan is when he kicked for touch, when we had pens he didnt get many yards.

They're just a bunch of kn*bs who know nowt about rugby! Watson makes our team tick but they just don't see it.

Weekend was a win at any margin game after wednesday

Sometimes [ quite a lot of the time with some people seem to forget why they make the effort to watch live sport proffessional or not

It is because when that whistle is blown you just dont know what is going to happen

This week we have played well and lost and played badly and won

That is why we go , if all you want is to watch a constantly winning team , then select the neccessary DVD's from Fred and you will be happy and satisfied [ but somwhat bored I would guess

If you want to know what is going to happen for entertainment then go and watch a movie or a ' show '

But you dont , you want to feel that little bit of fear and dread as that whistle goes

I have enjoyed all 3 of our matches so far , they have all been different but entertaining in thier own way

A strong well put together performance with a lot of trys

A heroic ' back to the wall ' struggle against adversity but ultimatley lost

A disjointed but interesting win against a determined focused team of ' missfits ' yesterday

What will sunday against haven bring ?

unfortunately Steve the sporting public of Leigh seem not to want to support their local teams they prefer to be armchair/pub chair supporters of TV toppers fussball or stupor league clubs and hold the same grudges they have for years, they are now out of the 'habit' of watching live sport be it at pro or amateur level (the numbers or lack of them at our two top 6 amateur clubs also would seem to prove that).

They'll be back. Everyone of them. Well the ones still alive. Success is the one missing thing thats keeping them away but I dont think its far away now. I can see a rosey future for our club.

But do we want them back ?

Do we want them back...... rather have new fans without the baggage.

We should want both.

I agree we should but they will still have the same old predjudices so is it worth it?

Unfortunatley what you want and what you get are usually very different things

OK then I'll rephrase - we should be actively trying to attract both, and can't afford to ignore/neglect/turn away either

And before somebody says it again I do know that this is not the clubs responsibility, however it's in everybody's interests so all parties should see it as a joint responsibility.

It will take time, but one thing I do know is if we play entertaining rugby the fans will come to watch.

Some need to know there's a team of tryers. Some need limited success to feel fulfilled. Others won't come back until we're in with a shout of winning Super League.

It seems that NK is building a brand of rugby based on solid effort and local talent. History would show that this is a brand favoured by the Leigh public.

Just like building the performances of the team, though, the crowds should improve steadily.

All in all it seems like there's a sustainable plan on the pitch for the first time in ages. Once the brand of rugby is solidly established the club should promote this heavily.
