Peter mata'utia from Newcastle knight signed

Just read he was only one of two players to compete in every game last season. .. surprised how hes even available?

According to one of the NRL news websites Peter was offered a one year deal by the Knights for next season. It was then reported that St Helens offered him a two year deal. Leigh have offered him a three year deal which he has signed. He has a family and the deal from Leigh offers them all extra financial security, plus he has bought into our plans for the future.
I wish Peter and his family well at Leigh Centurions.

That is a good signing and would have been, in my opinion, had we still been in SL.

Hopkins has been offered a contract, fingers crossed most of the others named get the same, although I do believe Mortimers was not SL only - would be a real boost to keep him

There a few players been offered contracts but it’s not the £££ they are looking for so don’t be surprised if some of our players leave who are expected to stay.

Definitely - I would like to see him at hooker, the position he was playing in the NRL.

That would depend on whether they got a club in SL I expect. Can't see Toronto wanting all of them!

The players who I know been offered want to stay but the money offered is below average so will not sign unless leigh come back with bit more money. However we play this you got to back the people in charge

Below average for what sample size? I imagine they'll be above average for the Championship.

I don't feel we will keep hold of Mortimer if I am honest. Nothing confirmed though. However we have additional and competent targets in both the half back and hooker position including a young half back currently plying his trade in the NRL (also now attracting SL offers unfortunately) , and one currently in SL and both would be superb aquisitions IMO.

I have a hunch though that Liam Hood will sign up for next year but again nothing confirmed at this stage.

Whilst the emphasis is clearly on youth, Jack Blagborough, the young lad currently with Sheffield would go great guns for us in a FT environment. Definitely one for the future.

Just looked him up, 23 years old, and only made 20 appearances? May do well in FT environment, but would be a punt.

It would you are correct, but no bigger punt than David Thompson. Some you win some you don't, but the potential is clearly there.

What contracts should we be offering Monty, split them into categories, ie First team first namer, first team regular and fringe

I’m not the people offering contracts I just know players are unhappy with what they getting offered. Some of the players would get offered more in my opinion and others not

Well we have cut the wage bill by 900 grand so can believe that about the back row. I agree cutting players wages as gates will be less hence less revenue but you got to try keep some experience and lads that want to play for the club and not offer them less than average for a full time championship side

Gates less, sponsorship less and £1m less from sky so its common sense really - what is average for a FT championship club btw
