Sounds like Sheffield are in for a lean season, crowd wise. I hope they can increase numbers as the weather improves, some teams with better away followings attend, and they put together some good results like today. Very worrying when that is all that want to turn out to watch them play a potential top 4 team (well before today anyway).

They're both teams that could be strong enough to finish in the top 4 of the division. I know Sheffield are displaced at the moment but it's a worryingly low crowd.

A massive, massive test today and even more so when taking the conditions in to account. Not a game for half backs but Riddy did a sterling job in marshalling us around the field and both Penky and Beswick had very good games. Inevitably Barlow was the centre of attention and did very well to keep his head at times, as did Moimoi who once again gained us some really hard yards when we needed it. McNally didn't have his best of games but hopefully Armstrong's injury isn't too bad and Liam Kay is just on another level these days.

Considering Fax completely dominated territory and possession in the second half, it speaks volumes for our defence that they only managed score off a Leigh mistake to have a walk in (as did Pownall in fairness).

Jake Emmit was outstanding today. He put a long shift in and got through an enormous amount of work for the lads on a heavy pitch in relentless driving rain. In fact it was his best performance in a Leigh shirt IMO

I went to The Shay today and the lads got a job done. Respect to them. The weather was atrocious and the pitch a leveller. A great, great 2 points really!

Agreed. Jake must have put in about 75 minutes and was going as strong at the end of that stint as he was at the beginning. Special mention to two other forwards, Tommy Goulden and Kurt Haggerty who did the full 80, I believe. (although Haggerty did have a rest in the backs when Armstrong went off!

How on earth can Sheffield get a team, let alone survive on crowds like that

I would love to know the answer to that as well when they got to the Cup Final against us couple years ago at Halfax their support was shocking it's unbelievable that the club keeps going someone is keeping that club afloat

if we need x amount to break even, then something does not add up at Sheffield, they are renting a stadium the same as we are with only a tenth of the income

Considering the layers I had on I couldn't believe how cold it felt. I even stopped of the ale at H-T and opted for a brew - unusual for an away game - but true!
