I can only speak for myself, but in fairness Mish whenever I contacted the club or AR I always got a reply.

As an ex-pat LISA member, not that bothered about a place on the board as such, but what would be nice is if the club published accounts every quarter or something. E.g. total spent on player wages (not individuals, just the total), monies paid to directors/staff (if any, again total, not individuals), total gate income (we could see how many freebies were diluting the gate money) etc. It would stop the 'I am not going again until X stops taking money out etc' as you would have hard proof that this was not the case.....any losses and how much we were short so the fans could try to help address the shortfall etc.

Reality check here Mish, this shouldn't be about sticking a nose into board meetings and saying nowt.

This is about how our clubs future is mapped, the income will come from fans be it via sponsorship, LISA, Lottery, Touchdown or gate receipts. The incumbant board have stated no more money from them, this should mean the shareholding gets diluted over time and I do not understand why Touchdown get shares and LISA doesn't for its contributions.

We need a vibrant stakeholder driven club with a small working Board answerable to those stakeholders. We do not need a club run by committee unable to move quickly when required. We need complete trust and that is gained by transparency and honesty over a period of time.

If we achieve this we create a club Leigh feel and culture, whilst shutting up the barstool know it alls once and for all.

Lisa have been promised the same as the touchdown club, trouble is some of the fans on here dont want it

No disrespect to LISA but the T/Down club are supposed to represent local business, and as such are more familiar with running a business and its legalities. As a fan I would be far happier with them working at Board level and the Supporters group working with the Board as a shareholder for the benefit of the club and its fans.

At last weeks LISA meeting and at the last two fans forums ( I may add) the club directors have stated that LISA have been offered a share and a representative on the board .
This was discussed at the LISA meeting by Phil Coffey and we was asked to nominate 4 or 5 candidates to be vetted by the board(this I dont agree with btw.), then Lisa was to decide which of the candidates that had been approved they wanted to represent them.
No one at the meeting made any objections and passed comment that this was not what they wanted, even though some have since passed comment on this thread.
We are therefore.... me and the LISA chairman, going to arrange a meeting with the club to discuss this further, before we go to a vote etc.
I have put it in the next programme, that the meeting on the 21st March is an important one and I would urge all members to attend, I will also get this into the press and I will email any members I have email address for and get it annouced at the match, that we would like all members to attend the meeting.
I will also send letters to the members that are too far away to attend and offer these a postal vote and anyone else who gets in touch and lets me know they cant attend.
Basically that s all I can do.
Then if LISA decide to take it the offer and it becomes more trouble then its worth and it causes us problems, we can always change back to what we was doing before.
Although I still think LISA should have a Share Holding but we can look at ways we can have this and still remain Independant.
Instead of looking at ways it can fail, lets look at ways it can work, lets not be negative, lets be positive.

Mish that is the term given to all the blokes sat in pubs telling you they used to watch Leigh but stopped going because of all the money named directors took out of the club going back to 1895 - I don't think you fall into that category.

The amount of times Ive heard that and Ive been sat with Steve who was a director at the time and its been said its unreal and you know what we can never change their minds about it, we have to say goodbye to people like that and move on.
Since Sporting Club Leigh was set up no Director has taken a penny out of the club never.
It wont happen now, I trust each and every one of the people in charge of our club and if LISA didnt we wouldn't trust them with our members money, simple as.

Maurice yes that what was said at both the fans forum and the LISA meeting it was offered to us and the TOUCHDOWN CLUB.

With a shareholding it will be easy to shoot down any argument by saying "well now the Fans have a shareholding so why don't you get down to LSV and see the new, Fan-friendly club in operation"!

If you are suggesting that the person, whose name I have highlighted, ever took money out of our club, you are well out of order, and qualify as a spectacular 'bar stool know-it-all'! I was working with Chris Healey during his time as CEO at Leigh and can personally vouch that he put a small (large) fortune of his own money into our club, to prevent it from going under. His contribution was considerably larger than that made by virtually all of our directors in the past 20/30 years and his devotion to the cause cost him dearly, in more ways than one.

Chris is now living in New Zealand I believe, but I will not tolerate anyone slagging off his role in Leigh Centurions. But for him (yes, "a soccer person"!) there would have been no Centurions from a good few years ago.

Real nice man was Chris and hope hes doing ok. he would have never done anything untoward and as Ive said none of the current SCL people have, as for before that I dont know or care.
Seems to me no matter how hard the club try, there will always be someone acusing them of something and if people think that when LISA and the Touchdown club get their shares this will stop will they need to wake up and smell the coffee, as it wont.
AS Maurice says those that say they wont come because of money taken out illedgelly by ex directors, you'll never convince these people to think any differently.
I personally aren't interested in how much we pay player one or how much the gas bill is, all I care about is seeing that the club is not going to go under and that we have a club to support.
We all need to work together to see that this happens and I feel the current set up is the best we have had for a long time and the transparancy is there, with the fans forums,and LISA meeings, questions get answered honestly by the clubs representatives there, what more can we ask for, and when the shares are issued to the |TOUCHDOWN CLUB and LISA then it will make our club stronger and more fan friendly.

To be fair Alan I don't think he was accusing anyone of anything, he was just phrasing what others think or say.

This thread just shows what an emotive issue this can be and people (this thread is littered with them) need to sit back read and digest properly what people have written and if in doubt ask them to explain it in better terms (also perhaps a little thought before posting too??) or it will turn into another name calling back biting thread.
