The player of the year, coach of the year and young player of the year award winners are selected by a poll of every coach in the Kingstone Press Championship and League 1. The Club of the Year and Project of the Year awards are determined by the RFL Board, whilst the Foundation of the Year is selected by Rugby League Cares.

He played in the first 17 games of the season, enough for people to see what he was all about.

I actually asked the question, had he played in enough not that he had not played many matches

I just questioned it rather than said he wasn't worthy.

I'm a huge Gaskell fan but a bigger Brierley fan

Ryan appears (touch wood) to be able to miss picking up injuries which is a quality in itself. When he learns a little more how to control a game as good as Gaskell, he will become complete.

Brierley misses injuries because the fringe is his saviour.You may call it quality.I doubt Woody would call it that.

There's a reason he's not in the squad for this particular game. Mr Lowes thinks there is a conflict of interest.

For me, it's a tough one. Gaskell by a mile is the best player in the division. Over the whole season, I think Brierley deserved it. Look at what he did in the cup matches too against better opposition and that is where this one went wrong. Marshall was definitely the right call though.

It is a Championship award, what he does in cup games is irrelevant.
