Gents, It is fantastic reading through this and how you value former players of the club. I have made contact with Tommy Dickens, and he is coming on board the association. Rod Tickle has sent me some pictures which I've put on twitter @leighcpa - Rod has got me email for Tony Barrow. It is snowballing nicely! I can't believe that Dave Jones (my teacher from St Peters who got me - and many others into rugby) this week told me about his father-in-law who is Dick Breare, he played for Leigh either side of the war! The heritage numbers could be fantastic for the club. Plans are in place for something special and if it comes off could be emotional and give the club some well deserved praise for the way they are handing their history. We have had 166 players make just 1 appearance for the club, but like Mike Latham said to me, their are supporters out there who would love to have played 1 game. These players are still part of the history and are credited with their unique heritage number. I know some lads are a little embarrassed about this and feel they don't deserve to be mentioned alongside some of the great names who have worn the shirt. I have been privy to seeing he numbers and around 900 pictures Mike has sent to me. I've found it interesting and emotional looking back at the names on the list! We are also looking at getting a re-union together with the 71 Wembley team when David Eckersley is over later this year. This could be an exciting times for the history of Leigh and I urge ALL former players whether they have played 1 game or a 100 games to get in touch. We must publicly thank Mike Latham and his team on the great work they have done over the years for Leigh.

Having been on contact with Mike, he feels encouraged by the club with the ideas which have been discussed regarding the heritage numbers. It's given him the enthusiasm to dig further and find stories he has archived about Leigh from the very early days. I'm sure he will put something together that will inform, entertain and raise the profile of Leigh Centurions.

I'm making contact on a daily basis of players who I have never met but heard of. These players are hoping to support the association. We have had around 1350 players play for Leigh since 1895. I really do hope we can get surviving members on board to support our cause.

I will be in the Legends bar on Sunday, representing the association, doing a Q&A with Clive - I hope to see you there.

We have a Gerry Rothwell who made his debut against Australia 18th September 1937.

Jason has kindly agreed to do a Q&A post game as part of the Legends bar running order Sunday.

There is a rota basis now at every game so we have a number of different past players at each and every game.

Fantastic to have the guys back were they belong and another barrier broken down as we move the club onwards at pace.

These guys have always wanted to be doing what they are doing they just needed a board and the club to make them welcome and make it viable.

Nothing is impossible as we are proving and all the old myths about the RFL and LSV and this that and the other are being laid to rest one by one by simply conducting ourselves as a Board and club in a strong and professional manner and communicating with people like businessmen.

Jason is doing himself and the last players proud and working extremely hard by the way, well done mate respect

Like Andy said, I've volunteered this week to do the Q&A's - keep them easy, I have my kids with me! (don't mention a certain ban!)

This week attending the game we have Neil McCulloch, Gary Stradins, Andy Collier, Steve Cawley, Sid Baldwin, Paul Norman and Keith Latham who are part of the association.

Like I've said before the association will only be successful if we get former players to be part of it - the more the merrier! I know some players feel that they don't belong as they 'only' made a couple of appearances. I believe this doesn't matter, whether a player has made 1 or 100 games, we are all part of the history of the club and have worn the jersey. I'm sure there are many supporters out there who would love to have represented Leigh - we have all had that privilege.

We are doing our best to reach out to as many players as possible, and we rely on word of mouth, supporters asking players they know and players doing the same. We must thank Mark Taylor for his piece in the reporter and The Parkinsons for airing it on LCTV. The club have been very welcoming and want it to be successful as we do.

So please, regardless of which past player is with us, whether it is one of our most popular players or perhaps someone who may be one of those players out of the 166 who have played just once, make us feel welcome!

The heritage launch looks really exciting, a lot of hard work is being done behind the scenes at the moment and once the club are in a position to finalise things, I'm sure they will announce it in the right channels. The hard work that Mike Latham is throwing together is amazing, and I feel very privileged to have seen some of this work.

Mike and his team are amazing - I'm sure all Leigh fans are looking forward to the heritage launch - lets get as many players on board doing the same!

Could do with a chat with him - he cost my dad his debut! Apparently my dad was down to play his first game on Good Friday 1962 (I know this because my mum said she was expecting my sister - mum fainted in the crowd and woke up in Leigh Infirmary!) anyway, Ray declared himself fit so my dad (John Donohue) sat on the 'bench' - no subs in them days!
