I am all for a Saturday kick off but surely the RFL will adjudicate on the day of the match rather than time of a game?

For what reasoning would we choose to kick off at lunchtime?

Function on at night?

I dont mind, footy season finished too, so no excuses unless people are working, if we could have got 6pm KO if would have been better, but I will enjoy my Sunday off, hopefully having a barbi in my garden thats not had any use so far this year !!!!!!

It's only 'our ground' in some peoples imagination!! Just 'cos it was built in our town as a 'community facility' for our town, the fact remains that we are just one of several 'tenants' - with no more clout than the other 'local' users (Swinton & Blackburn)......I imagine it's all about who pays most or shouts loudest!!

Bizzare. Surely a later kick off, anytime from 5-7 would have been more attractive? I understand the RFL decide the date but do they decide the KO time?

To be fair to them, they flagged this up when the drafts of the fixture lists were originally sent out a long time ago.

If anyone is to blame, its the people who have only just acted on it, which is so unprofessional, its beyond belief!

Surely it is the right of the home club to determine which day they (normally) play their home fixtures???

Ok I know that there is a clash with Swinton in this instance and someone has to make a decision but which idiot at the RFL decided to have us both playing at home on the same weekend when they were compiling the fixture list??? Surely someone at Red Hall was aware that we both play at the LSV???

Oh and by the way, I think that we as fans need an official statement from our board of directors to re-assure us that they did in fact want to play our game on the Sunday and are not using this as a smokescreen to ensure a free Sunday for whatever reason!!!

Oh and by the by the way all this will no doubt be academic anyway when Premier Sports dangle a huge wad of money in front of us (





) and decide that it will be played on the previous Thursday night

If Leigh and Swinton (and one presumes the problem was with Swinton - perhaps it was Fev not wanting to play on Friday evening, I don't know) couldn't agree dates then surely Leigh could have gone for 6.15pm on Saturday evening (or even a 3PM KO)to maximise support (and build on what was a good gate and good corporate turn out v Toulouse on our last Saturday evening game).
Surely moving the game to 1pm Saturday now means the club lose a lot of much needed finance.

Of course the benefits and problems with twitter are news gets out before a club press release, however time and time again Leigh have been 2nd best at getting information out and for a professional club that must change.
Hopefully Leigh will give a full explanation to the fans and sponsors to ...
- Why we have come out 2nd best v Swinton Lions (or Fev) wishes in our own ground ?
- Why it has taken so long to sort out ?
- Why is it 13:00hrs kick off (and the reasoning behind it) ?

I don't think its unfair to ask those questions as surely a progressive well run club would want its support base to know exactly why a decision has been made, I would imagine our club will release something at some point today.

There are quite a few players at various cricket clubs who watch Leigh......... but not at 1.00pm on a Saturday.

Funny how people are now trying to jump on the club for the time. Oh by the way the RFL decide which kit we play in as well...no they do they really do. Featherstone have become well known in recent years for manipulating the fixtures to suit themselves.

I don't jump on any bandwagons, I am at cricket on Saturday afternoons as I have been for over 50 years, many other people are similarly affected. Obviously people have other things to do on Sundays but I am making a personal point. With your permission of course.

personally 13:00 on a sat is fine with me, but i do agree we need a reason as to why we have had our noses pushed out again, i am presuming swinton are at home on the sunday

Top footie games regularly kick off at 12 30pm at weekends.

Some won't be able to make it for various reasons but that applies to any fixture we have even when it is a Sunday at 3pm.

Works perfect for me. Any later than 1pm and I wouldn't have been able to make it

Also means that Featherstone supporters will be able to get the train over if they so wish. Oh wait...

Yes we have been given plenty of forward notice but I have to say I do find it strange that the club are not giving the supporters an explanation as to why the game has been changed to a more unorthodox day and KO time. Especially for ST holders who may now be unable to make the game at 1pm on a Saturday.

If it stops at that day and time I can go for a change as I am off work that day.

Well there is plenty of time for the club to tell fans.

Seems to me the RFL have decided the day and it can't be held in the evening because of a function at the LSV.

I think its fair to sometimes query the decisions like this (especially if you think it harms the clubs chance of increased revenue), I'm sure our CEO or BoD will give a answer and not view it as 'answering to the whingers' but more along the lines of keeping our support base happy, onside and in the loop.

That's all it comes down to Jenky, the last line. They're never going to please everyone but a simple announcement along the lines of;

"Leigh and Featherstone couldn't agree on a date to play the game, (explain why Swinton are playing Sunday and not Leigh) therefore the RFL told us we have to play it on Saturday (and/or) at 1pm/the club has a pre arranged function in the evening so a 1pm kick was the only other suitable time."

Like I said, not everyone will be happy but at least they'll know the reasoning behind it all.
