| I think i've heard in the past that the Bowton chairman (Gartside?) is a RL fan. There were a few rumours of Swinton going to Bolton a few years back.

Gartside is from Lowton, though not sure if he's a Leigh supporter or not.

| Quote ="Leyther_Matt"Depends how much they'd want for the rent, I suppose. There was talk of us groundsharing there in 2001 had we won the Grand Final in 2000 but not entirely sure if that would have actually come off (though worth bearing in mind that BWFC were in Division One at the time and were in dire need of the money)?'"
Bolton signed a letter of agreement, to say they would let Leigh use the Reebok for early matches in SL, if Leigh had won the 2000 GF. However, it was never going to happen - it was just a way that we were looking to get round RL red tape, while HP would have been brought up to an acceptable SL standard. It was that letter that sparked off Mr. Caisley's outburst, in a RL Council meeting, about SL rules forbidding a SL team to groundshare with a professional football club - shortly before his Bradford Bulls moved to share with their soccer counterparts, in the city!!!

Strange as Wigan were already sharing the JJB by that point

I can't imagine for a second that the LSV are running at anything close to a profit, but would be delighted to be proved otherwise.

That's how it went though, Matt. I was working for the club, with our CEO at the time, at a Bolton company that also boasted the Bolton chairman as a director. As a matter of interest, where were Bolton, 'Latics and Bradford, in the football hierarchy in 2000/1? (that might have been what the chief Bull was whinging about!)

In 2000/2001, Bolton were in Division One (promoted at the end of the season), Latics in Division Two (promoted at the end of the season IIRC) and Bradford City were in the Premier League (relegated at the end of the season).

They're only playing one game at the Reebok, and probably would do so even if they were permanently at Leigh, but I would fully expect Sale to play at least one game at the LSV over the next year or two, particularly if we have a reasonably bad winter.

So it looks like Caisley was anti-sharing with Premier League/potential Premier league teams then - until the Bulls moved in with Bradford FC!

I know for a FACT that the Chief Finance Officer at the Reebok is a massive RL fan (He's my son in law), and until a knee injury forced him to stop playing at age 18, played for Miners Rangers ....
I could possibly find out how much they'd want????

All options should be considered but my view on this is, we have enough problem getting 'home' fans to LSV without asking them to travel to the Reebok, possible Free bus from the Bolton area, or knock the price of their bus fare off the ticket price, or discounted tickets on proof of Bolton address, or joint discount for season ticket holders from both clubs.

Duffy is at the moment involved in attracting girls to the sport and enlisted the help of England Ladies Clair Robinson to lead training at Westhoughton High school and will be running similar sessions with Smithhills,St Catherines Academy and Rivington & Blackrod ,this will culminate in a year 7 festival taking place on Oct 22nd

| From the rumours I have heard, Sale only wanted to play 1 match at the LSV, and naturally the LSV wanted them to play more.
It would mean marking the pitch out, as its different to RL, and the soft gets have there goal posts wider than RL one's, again proving our kickers are by far superior skills wise than the kick and clap kickers.
I wonder if they would go for goal as much if they were RL sized posts, and penalties worth less points?

are the club allowed to promote themselves,or are the players only allowed to do rfl work?.
it seems like a good way to get information packs about leigh rl out there and at the same time gather information,'like' what can we do to get you to the lsv on sunday afternoon.

It doesn't really go into much detail other than what i put but if it attracts a wider audience then great

The sockets for the Union posts are already in, they were put in several months ago.

| Yes i know, what i'm saying is, the pitch markings are different, and they would need a longer crossbar.

Pitch markings shouldn't pose a problem - they're more similar to RL markings than football markings anyroad! I'm sure Sale can bring their own posts from Edgeley Park. In fact, the only pitch-related query I'd have is how they'd fit the HUGE rugby union in-goal areas in without putting the dead ball line halfway up the North Stand.

Never really understood why their in-goals are so big, but it ruins watching a game behind the sticks at Swinton etc.

Its a difficult one (and would be easier to do in SL), but my belief is that if Leigh RFC are to grow, then we need to change the mindsight of trying to fill the ground with only people from Leigh. the best way to do that is to play the odd game in neutral areas (in Boltons case I would argue that there is a mutual friendship between the two towns).
What Sale are trying to do is grow their business by attracting union fans from all over the north west - and by starting in an area with no RL. There are a lot of posh northerners in the NW who would side with union to dissociate themslelves from the working classes. What Leigh need to do is trying and get the vast market of the Bolton area watching Leigh.
I think Leigh need to show some pro-activeness with targetting Bolton as it would be a big box ticker with the RFL. Cas and Wakey don't have such a large potential catchment area like Leigh do
