What would he offer to the team if he was to play in our next game vs Fax? His defence, due to his stature, is nowhere near as good as Jocks and he doesn't take the line on any more which is were he is most dangerous and his passing at times is awful.

Agreed is defence is a problem due to his size but most of thursdays team should be having a week of passing practice. How do you coach close contact fast passing? Communication. Luck or ESP. I dont think you can coach it. It's all down to the players and how they feel on the day, practice can only hone scenarios, after that a players personal skills and attitude take over.

This is what worries me about Mr Rowley he is the ego and hates anyone taking it off him "I am Mr Leigh etc etc etc""
He coaches now and picks teams on whats needed and whos on form not who is going to take the limelight off him!!! He still worries me as a coach because of his egotistical attitude!!
Jamie is a good impact player and at Batley in the first half more than prived his worth....he offers a lot more than Liability hobson who we cant seem to get 2 good stints a game out of.....

Not living in Leigh now I don,t hear much rugby gossip about our team. What I can,t understand however is why any coach would not pick his best line up.

I suppose its just the same as in life............if you don,t get on with someone you don,t keep knocking around with them.

I,m sure thats the case both with coaches, and the players on their staff, and vica versa.

Surely a coach picks the players he feels will do a job?

Two tries at Batley that were both support play IIRC? He has no leadership qualities and speed around the play the ball only comes when your forwards are laying platforms, hitting their front first, and we aren't doing that so it makes Durbin in-effective IMO.

I like Durbin and would like to see him take on the line and be a running halfback, but he hasn't shown this in some games.

durbin isnt allowed to dictate because that is wattos job everything has to go through him???? sometimes thats good and other times well you know??
durbin has talent and good line speed he has to be allowed sometime!

If you think that a prospective Leigh player makes his mind up not to play for us by reading this forum you are mad. Also Alan the whole team were in shock by the site of Watto flat out with a gash to his head and play not being stopped. At that point in the game there were some strange decisions being made by the ref and the boys found it hard to react. Maybe we should send the team to Afganistan for some pre season hardening up. We should not look for single reasons or people for the way the team play. There are loads of points to take into account.
I'm just glad I dont support Widnes or Bradford.

My comment was about an individual not being allowed to dictate play, and the fact that there was a distinct lack of volunteers for the role, when Watto went off. methinks we have been lucky he has steered clear of injury! (fingers crossed!)

well i for one would have durbin somewhere in my 1 to 17, probably on the bench for impact, we need players with speed who can make something happen, i think given the time and support durbs could do that, as for all this stuff about rowley's ego, well i don't know him personally and never wanted himn as coach, but on saying that he is not doing to bad so far, excluding last thursday. all coaches will have their fav players, but for the good of the club i say pick durbs, at least till we get somebody as good if not better.
