No wind up at all, I am very pro the development of youth.

I more than some on here are happy with this years Leigh team, I'd rather see young Morty allowed to develop at FB than play Donlan who would probably do a better job there this year, but not in 2 or 3 years time.

I genuinely hope that Leigh do not take players on short term loan.

Its not as easy as that - the old saying 'I'd rather see a local team busting a gut with effort even if they lose' only lasts a few weeks with fans, the fact that Mort is doing well gives him more time, if he wasn't he'd get abuse - fact.

We're not looking at short term solutions, we could end up with Penny and Pickersgill full time (2 young English lads) which is great.

We have Yates (one of the best prospects in the division imo), Flynn, Ostick, Simm, Thompson, Kavanagh, Strong, Mullaly, Houghton, Grady who have all played first team this year who played reserve rugby last year (Thompson was for Saints). We've actually given youth too much of a chance this year (that's 10 off the top of my head), that's been a reason we're coming away at the seems (I know there are plenty more).

And let's not forget that one of the best prospects in the game came through our youth scheme.

And in defence of the 4 week loan, we have Fletcher, Morrison, Wildbore, Gaskell, Toa and Scott Yates all out injured who should be back in about 4 weeks. If we added reserve players to the ones playing already we're open for slaughtering, which will do them no good whatsoever long term.

As for VM, he is a total wrist flicker. He knows it, Widnes' real fans know it and we certainly do.

Widnes have a great tradition but seem to be knee jerking too often this year, instead of building from solid foundations.

We already have solid foundations, we have an excellent youth production line and many home grown players in our team. It's the nature of the beast though that the Widnes public demand to be the best anything else is simply not worth thinking of.


Remember you have to appear in a final either this year or next or no Super Dooper League.

We shouldnt be good enough for a final this year, we will see what happens close season as to how high we are aiming.

There are 2 possibilities with franchising, One is it will fail which I think it will. Nonrelegation league clubs are without exception showing a decline in attendances which will get worse as this season goes on. That is a fact concerning attendances by the way.

The other one is this ridiculously risky experiment will continue for 3 seasons and then Toulouse will be given a franchise which will contribute to a further decline. It will also contribute to declining gates for any club outside Nonrelegation league whose aspirations will have vanished.

Penny will score lots of trys in this division but will probably be targeted and let lots in, caused us no problems when we played them in the CC and think he had King as his centre.
