Right Guys n Gals, here is the running order for the Legends bar after a few last minute tweaks

Bar to open at 12.30pm with Drink promotions etc

Around 2pm we will have club Legend Mick Stacey performing the official opening followed by a quick interview of his Leigh career, a career that sees him still holding the club record for goals in a game at 15 with numerous other points records set by him in his career. Those of you who recall Mick will remember him as a points machine who served the club for 10 years before injury cut short his career in 1982, our championship winning season, at 27 years of age. A proud Leyther who was delighted to accept our invitation and I am sure he will have a few tales to tell, and we will give him a great reception.

The match day compare will be interviewing two current squad players unable to play, so its time to find out what really goes on pre season and what knicknames the new lads have picked up, also get those autograph books open and cameras ready because I am told these are the sexiest two players in the squad



There will be a quiz for the more intelligent fans, I am therefore excluded, and Rob Parker will be his normal self mingling with the players amongst the fans

Lets take advantage of this great facility as a real part of the Centurions moving forward, it will be fantastic to see it packed to the rafters, remember kids are welcome, generating a real buzz before our first hit up against the owd Enemy

Be very sensible for the LSv to do so seeing there's now two games Sundays one at 1ish the other at 4 which clashes with our match but I'm sure fans would come in early and watch I'f available .

If there is entertainment on why would they want football detracting from a very well put together and educational quiz?

One wonders who is clever enough to entertain the fans in the legends bar with a marvellous quiz

Let's see watching some carpy round ball bloke roll around to the tune of bolero or watch Leigh legend open bar- no brainer we should even advertise the fact it will never be on

because other people and organisations use the bar for functions, meetings etc.. Dont shoot the messenger that's what they say

I and the rest of Leigh know that but (cue angelic music) THE WORD FROM ABOVE SPOKE.

It's a bar in a Rugby League stadium, putting football on would not be very sensible.

You would think so wouldn't you ?. But then again we are trying to tempt people to use our facilities rather than stay at home. We all know the good folk of Leigh will or can use the weakest of reasons or excuses not to attend . Now one argument could be that to make a fan choose between their footy team or their local RL team could be an expensive gamble when you may actually be in a position to give them both whilst increasing the footfall / custom in the bar. Then again one could also argue that the expense of Sky & the like for a bar would eat too much into any potential profits you could make. Personally i'm not that fussed about a game of footy on tv, but plenty of landlords use it as bait don't they?.

I struggle to comprehend some posts sometimes.
We have a home to meet, chat, have banter and a beer at long last. We have a great of the club providing his time to officially open the new look bar, we have a compare, a quiz and players being interviewed and somebody wants the footie on


I can see it now, ''Hey Mick can you be quiet there's a throw in for Utd''

To the rest bring your friends and family and join in the fun without the footie on - you will be able to talk instead, we are not trying to mimmick a boozer we are trying to create a friendly environment for our fans to feel part of the club, some will prefer a pub but that's choice. Get the players to sign shirts, have your photo taken and have a chat with them.

Enjoy your club, it belongs to the fans

I am sure the Legends Bar will be full of RL supporters who can manage without the football.

The Centurion will be full of people watching the footy and then they'll leave at 2.50 to come down to the ground . I'd rather see people using our bar, and whether you like it or not people like myself Leythers Matt like both Football and Rugby.
If I have to choose I. Always choose rugby but if you can watch both ie the early game Sunday and then watch the rugby match what's wrong with that?

Nothing wrong with that but don't expect the Legends Bar to go to the expense of providing Sky football to satisfy a few and inconvenience a lot.

Already had a half decent atmosphere in th bar last time I went in. Showing old Leigh games on the TV and the the quiz. A few more tables and chairs outside in the summer and it'll bi reet. One of them electric extending awnings the fulllength of the bar in case it rains fot smookers. Job done. Went it a restaurant in Florida and sat outside. It started raining and the waiter said "don't worry sir". Pressed a button and a roof was over us in no time and from nowhere. It was about 60ft long and about 10ft wide.

Explained in one sentence Frederick, I know loads not going into the centurion because they will have the football on- that word again CHOICE

Thing is its amassed opportunity
The Wren doesn't have TVs so fans wanting to watch footy can't go in there.
As you say it's personal choice.

It is a no brainer, official opening of the Legends Bar or Swansea v Spurs.

Beat me to it Reffy, United are the late KO at Chelsea.

At the end of the day we have listened to our fans and delivered what they have wanted and the Legends bar will form part of the much improved overall match day experience. The Legends will be the OFFICIAL club bar from here on in and a place to be for Centurions families and friends where they can socialise with players, staff and directors while having fun and listening to club legends.

It won't be everyone's cup of tea but we catter for the majority.

As a side issue the lottery will have a presence campaigning for new members and Leigh Retail will be on hand while the TDC upstairs is going from strength to strength so cutting everything else that's been said to one side the revamped Legends bar offers a perfect opportunity to campaign for new members for LISA as was discussed last night.

We're having the TDC experience upstairs but will be there for the grand opening. I might even let my Touchdown dinner get cold to soak up the atmosphere of Legends Bar.
We finished off last season with Andy and Rob (along with a player usually) giving us an update or chat about the club. This really went down well with the fans and should be even better this year.
