| for me, i think beswick should either be rested, or put at 13, i don't like him at 9, nor at six. i feel he breaks up the sort of partnership duffy and nico have, although he is a good ball playing forward. i'd go with:
Russell
Clay
Maden
Littler
Shaw
Ridyard
McNally
Parker
Nicholson
Hopkins
Taylor
Goulden
Beswick/Gallagher
Brierley
Duffy
Bibey
Ostick
Risky having two backs on the bench V fev, but i doubt taking them up the middle is a viable gameplan. Brierly an impact player for me, and would like to see Mcnally getting back to his natural halfback game before huddersfield tried to transform him into an FB. Russell has to start, great talent, and a specialist fullback. Hopeful of catching fev at the right time, but predict a bonus point.

| With / with out DC's
1.McNally / McNally
2.Maden / Maden
3.Littler / Littler
4.Gardner / Gardner
5.Russel / Clay
6.Ridyard / Ridyard
7.Brierly / Duffy
8.Bibey / Bibey
9.Duffy / Beswick
10.Parker / Parker
11.Taylor / Taylor
12.Goulden / Goulden
13.Beswick / Briscoe
Bench
Nicholson / Nicholson
Spencer / Gallagher
Gallagher / Worrincy
Hopkins / Hopkins
In situations where we have no Brierly I'd like McNally at 7 & Pownall at FB but I presume he's still a few weeks away & I'd also think McGilvray would do a decent job at FB with no DC's available

| Well pleased with that news. Hope Russell is available too not to mention Spencer and Shaw.
That would certainly give us some pace in the backs and vindicate my 38-12 Leigh win forecast.

A couple of glasses of FORTIFIED Acorn juice ,and you will be Smacking Judy with a Ruler , and expecting a much closer game at Fev , seriously i think we will be lucky to get a win , depending on the team .

I hope you are right , but i feel Fev will still be the team to beat this season , i do have faith in Leigh , but at best a small margin win for us is all i can see .

| Taken from the preview on the RFL website: -
[iDual-registration pair Matt Russell and Tom Spencer return to Paul Rowley's Leigh squad, while Stuart Littler is back after completing a one-match suspension.
Rowley said: "We're looking strong. Our only injury is Tommy Goulden, so we're in a pretty healthy position."
Centurions lost 24-18 against Batley Bulldogs in their opening Co-operative Championship fixture, but Rowley was encouraged by large aspects of that performance.
He said: "Both sides were fantastic. The completion rates were in the high 80s and early 90s, there were four tries each and it was a tough encounter.
"We're not a million miles off. We need to remember what we've been through, but we do set our standards high. They'll need to be high again this week.
"Featherstone have been the form team for the last three or four years. It's been a long time since we've been there and come up with a victory, but we see this as an opportunity.
"We can't wait to go there and test ourselves against the best team in the league."[/i

Bothe opted for early guilty plea.
Verdicts: Smeaton - no further action; Spears 2 matches. I make that Dickens and Spears missing, but that will just give others an opportunity to shine!

| What is it with this 'early guilty plea'. It would seem when a player is charged with a Grade A offence the recommended sanction is No Further Action - 1 game. If the early guilty plea is made by the player, then they seem to get the lower of the range of sanctions. The same seems to apply to the more serious offences too. If they put in an 'early guilty plea' then they get the lowest number of games recommended under the disciplinary system. Methinks the RFL disciplinary doesn't actually want to be bothered sitting.

It's the serious offences that I take issue with. I believe that a player who is guilty of serious foul play should suffer the full consequences of his actions, especially if an opponent is injured in the incident.
From all (Fev) accounts, Smeaton's was a minor misdemeanour and his previous good record was taken into account - although he's not been playing that long has he? It would appear that Gallagher and Littler's good record was also taken into account, although I think their 'good behaviour has stretched over something like 11 and 16 years respectively!

| You can only use the early plea if you have not been sent off the previous 12 months and (may be wrong here) but I think you can only use it once per season.
It can't be used for repeat offenders. So if like Sam, you've had a good clean record, you stand chance of having that mitigated down when assessed by the tribunal.
If Stu picks up another red card this season, he not can't use that and will have to go throuh the tribunal process in the usual way.
I've no real objection to this. It gives an element of leancy to 'out of character' offences whilst ensuring repeat offenders are appropriately dealt with.
