| Quote ="glow"First few games our defence was ruthless and had a great work ethic, we still show signs of it during the game but don’t seem sustain it, nor are we as organised, or as willing to work as a defensive unit. This to me was the basis for our early season form the opponents were beat into submission simply by how well we tackled them, this gave us the platform on which Riddy and co could work.
Back to basics, get organised, stop their supply and build from there, or we could be heading for a rough month.'"
Glow whatever happens , the next 5-6 weeks will shape our season , every game will be hard and important , and will need to be won , I don't think the Coaching Team will need telling this , our opening 3 League games were exceptional performances , hopefully we can get back to basics and win these game in the same way .

| Well we are due to get back to full form soon it is inevitable with the squad we have.
Looking forward to Sunday's game as I think it will be a cracker.

| Ridyard is a very creative player with a great kicking game.
I can see why fans are frustrated with him though and he is no John Woods, thats for sure.
If we have options at HB, we should use them. It was the first time I watched the boys on Sunday live, and there is a couple of players who should not play next week.
Ridyard is carrying a few pounds, thats for sure, but he isnt one of the 2 players in question.
Personally, if he had the defensive qualities, Ridyard would be a very good LF !

Couldn't agree more.
As I posted on another thread, 23 knock-ons, forward passes and penalties at least against Rochdale, and we still won. Keep the ball in our hands and we win by 12 (sorry 13, forgot the drop goal)

You mean like the previous week, when we probably surrendered possession just as many times?

| Quote ="Mediateam"So you weren't at yesterdays game then?
1 Riddys pass to make the try for Ollie
2 Riddys pass to put Sarsy through the gap to feed Ollie to score
3, Riddys break through the line to score
4 Riddys jink and pass tp put Ryan through the gap for his try
5 Riddys cut out pass to Ryan to feed Greg for his try
etc etc etc... in every game he has played this season.
What was that line from 'The life of Brian'
'What did the Romans every do for us'
Boy when some of our fans have it in for a player they surely twist the knife.'"
So young Ridders is a stand off that can pass then?
How many video re runs did it take you to conclude that?

| He is a great player Ridyard but I have also said he is a few pounds over weight right now and to be fair I would look at other options for Sunday just to freshen us up a little. We have struggled in our last four games and the last two could have gone either way. With all due respect to Rochdale, Keighley and Crusaders we will be playing against far better sides over the coming weeks so we need to change a few things quickly
I would move Kay in field to partner Brierley in the halves. We are also running with too many grunt forwards for me so I would start Spencer and Wilkes and then I would play Goulding and Sarsfield in the second row with Haggery in at Loose. Pitman keeps his place with Armstrong as the other Centre with Higson retaining his wing spot. My team to do a job on Halifax therefore would be,
McNally
Higson
Pitman
Armstrong
Pownall / Maden
Kay
Brierley
Spencer
Penky
Wilkes
Sarsfield
Goulding
Haggerty
Ridyard
Hopkins
Beswick
Barlow
That team can come back from Halifax with the points.
Also the decision to send Alex Brown out on loan was a ludicrous one as he would walk straight back in for me.

I didn't want to completely repeat myself. In the other thread I refer to I also said "like we have in other recent previous games".

| It's definitely going to be a tough game, think it'll be our 1st real test of where we're going to be this season. I think we can win though, hopefully all the illness will have gone and the whole squad can focus on getting back to how we played our 1st few games for a full 80 min.
I think Riddy has had a few games where he's not been up to his usual standard, Rowley probably is considering moving Kay into the 1/2s and brining Pownall back. Trouble is I think Riddy is a player you only realise how good he is when you don't have him, we loose so much whenever he's out injured. Still with Kay to replace him who knows? It's up to Rowley to decide.

| Really, REALLY can't see the sense in dropping Riddy for one of the toughest games of the season. We're still posting a decent number of points, it's the daft penalties, easy yards and ultimately conceding too many tries that is the problem, something that certainly can't be put down to the half backs.

It's about going to Halifax with a different approach and asking another set of questions. A set that Rhino is not expecting.

| Dropping Riddy....some folk (or is it just the 1) don't half post some kerrap on here.
Also like that tvboy chap, that Leigh Centurions must 'try harder' !
FFS....we will lose eventually, but we have not yet.
Just wait till we do....the Doom/Gloom merchants will have a field day.

Another one who thinks we have already arrived in and nailed a top 2 finish ... Bless
Luckily young Rowley, like most of us (but obviously not him above ) will still think we have lot of improvement in us just yet.

| Ridyard creates more tries and breaks than the rest of our team put together. I would bring Armstrong back in for Littler assuming he's recovered from his illness. Other than that I would leave the backs the same.
The pack is hard to pick, Goulden should always play if fit, he is immense. And Barlow should be up for it against his old club. But who do you leave out? tough decision for Rowley! I'd go with:
Spencer
Penky
Wilkes
Haggerty
Goulden
Barlow
Beswick
Emmitt
Acton
Hopkins
Tough on Thornley and Sarsfield but I think that is currently our strongest line up if they are all fully fit.

Would that be because he has the ball more than any other player? However he doesn't make more breaks than the rest of them. He looks lethargic at the moment and needs a rest, Kay will be a more than adequate replacement.
When you watch the games on Centurions TV it helps to watch it as a viewer rather than a worshipper.

Careful there Reffy, You can not make constructive debate against any of their superstars. You will be shot at the turnpike for treason if you even begin to analyse the performance of the team on this board and God forbid if you actually suggest a solution.

Yes more than you it would appear and It's Mr Rigby if you don't mind.
However thank you for the vote of confidence, I am sure I would do a splendid job but I am far too old to take over the reigns at my age so I would be inclined to leave young Rowley in the hot seat to continue the fine work he is doing currently. If he needs me to suggest a few tweaks here and there then my door is always open
coaching is definitely a young mans game now a days.

| It should be a really good game. Rowley trying to get his players to up their game by calling Fax the best team in the Championship and as expected Barlow doubtful.
It would probably be a mistake if Leigh played Barlow as quite a few Fax players will be out to wind him up which is easily done and he would be a liability for you guys.
It will be interesting to see how we back up after the Widnes game because the players were shot and usually after a game like that its tough to win the game the week after. I think Leigh are catching us at the right time and will win by about 18 points or so but it wont be a good indicator as to where the teams actually are.

Can't see that. Lately, (three times in the Rochdale matches) we have very nearly let 18 point margins slip. (22-4 at home; 18-0 and 28-10 away) It would seem we have a problem with being 18 points in front! Mind you, I would take that over being 18 points behind!
I can understand your point about 'fax being tired from last Sunday but, on the other hand, this will be our first game against a top six side. That might just be a shock to us.

| Greg, we are poor at present. We give away too much possession and if we do that on Sunday you will beat us by plenty.
If we are a big game team then we will also find that out on Sunday - I feel 10 points either way.

I’m by no means a stats man but would think Sarsfield is fairly high up in the tackling department, he’d certainly be in my team.
