Well ok but why should they then hang around in a stadium for 30 minutes charging £3 a pint for Carling or smooth flow bitter when they could be in Easts Miners Goose Boars Head Spoons or Ali's kebab shop.

We do not sell out every match we need to be realistic. To get people to turn up earlier you need to have something to do inside the stadium while they are waiting for the match to start.

Best off match entertainment I have seen this season was that high ball competition at HT maybe that at 2-30pm Sundays between opposing supporters or a tug of war.........kept a lot of people in their seats at Gateshead last season.

Some individually do not mind being there early but that is not the point is it ? To get people there earlier there has to be something to entertain them and until we do that we will still have this problem. It is solutions we need not this it does not bother me so why should they be bothered.

The cash turnstyle thing is obvious for one thing and sending tickets to opposing clubs is another which is obvious as is letting our club sell tickets in pubs and shops in the town during the week.

If its been done before for the cash turnstyles the why cant we keep doing it?

I understand there is a cost issue due to employing someone to do it, but how much can that cost for 2 hours? £10-15 per turnstyle?

That would quickly be paid for in increased ticket sales and larger attendances.

It'd just be the same people operating the turnstiles now, with tickets and season tickets going through one turnstile and cash on the other. Just a shame that they didn't consider the facility of cash turnstiles when designing the stadium - you might notice that there is literally nothing between the turnstile operator and the person actually going through the turnstile, and therefore there will be a risk of somebody trying to rob the operator if cash was being taken. A huge design flaw.

Two reasonably cost-neutral ways forward....

Option 1 - Take two staff out of ticket office and open a cash turnstile

Option 2 - Tell the punters to stop whining and turn up earlier.

To be fair we commented on the same as we where waiting to get in on Thursday.

They actually did a cash turnstyle for us which was good but im not sure it saved any more time that getting a ticket as you would at the LSV or even at Widnes.

There where only two turnstyles open and for the reasons Matt has explained above the two 'older' operators seemed to be conscious of holding onto the notes.

Il pre-empt any response by saying that possibly that was just due to our visit.

i give up frank, its not my problem or a problem for me, despite living in warrington i manage just as you do coming from salford. If my suggestions are so ridiculous theres no point in me showing i care about others, and suggesting to people how to get round things at the present time. It isn't law you know to have to buy drink and finish it at 2.58 before strolling through a turnstyle.

why not just send tickets to the away teams club??

obvs big teams should get more than the teams who bring no fans! this will shut the likes of widnes and fax fans who moan. then were all happy!

All I am trying to point out is we should make it as easy as possible for fans who do not want to come because of our current arrrangements to not have the inconveniece of waiting for a ticket at the LSV. Sell tickets in Leigh town centre send away club tickets' open 2 cash turnstyles.

We have 2 or 3 clubs in our league who potentially bring numbers lets encourage and re home supporters well the LSV has to show confidence in people who are willing to sell tickets in Leigh town centre.

Still think getting there earlier isn't end of world. Sending tickets to away clubs that are likely to bring a few fans is also a no brainer.

This 'get there earlier or tough' is nonsense.

Maybe folk dont want to get in the bloody ground at 2.30! Maybe they want a pint at Easts and stroll over at 2.50. It does not make them bad people especially when the ground is no more than 20% full.

Could you ever imagine Asda saying 'If you want bread this week you have to get here earlier. 2.30 every Sunday. Take it or leave it.'

With regular shoppers tutting that "it's only busy when offers are on".

We want more customers, so make it as easy as we possibly can for them to get in.

Telling them to get there earlier (as if they are naughty boys) is not the answer.

Went to W1gan the other week to watch Kick Ass (excellent film by the way

). We arrived 15 mins or so b4 film started went to pay for tickets at the payment counter, then went to this bored out of his brains guy that ripped half the ticket off then went down the corridor to the door of movie to queue up to get in. After about 5-10mins or so we entered and sat down, having to watch 20 mins of cr@ppy commercials. What a palarva (sp?)!!
Its not end of the world. Having cash turnstiles for 10 mins prior to KO to let in the latecomers from the pubs isn't a priority in my book, unless we was getting a unexpected bumper crowd and/or there are major road works etc - but even then you would delay KO if possible.
If we have cash turnstiles the crowds will not go up because of it. OK send tickets to away clubs, but that should be done anyway.

i'm not saying to anybody get there earlier.
what i'm saying to home supporters is get your ticket early[they've got 7 daysand then you can turn up when you want.
away support is differant especially for evening games.

OK my last post on this thread. I do not think queueing for 20 minutes for something I want to watch is the end of the world. Some do however and if we gain a few Speccies by spending £30 on a cash turnstyle by trying it then I think we should try it.

Should it not work OK we have lost £30. Big deal and re the lad at the flicks if you go again give him a Claphams pastie and he might smile.

But if 200 people think, "ooh there is a cash turnstyle" and all turn up at 2.45 or so at the one cash turnstyle, some will be complaining they missed the kick off. Operator faffing around for £6 change here or £4 there, it'll take a while. They just won't be able to win.

frank,another possible problem with cash turnstiles is this...all those people who currently can be bothered to get ther tickets earlier in the week will stop doing so & they will then start turning up at 2-55 just like the others.then before you know it we've got queues at the cash turnstiles & loads of moaning people again.human nature im afraid.
best thing to do is buy a season ticket.
