Varks has not been offered a contract for next season , nothing to do with his day job, he is a Personal Trainer at Total Fitness in Wigan .
As a friend of Varks i suppose im biased, but hes a good season for the Mutants , is very fit , is no slouch for speed , scores tries , could easily do a good job for us , for me id sign him for next season , along with another guy who trains at the Gym , Bob Beswick , this guy can take over from Robbie he is only 26 years old , these two lads would make a good addition to our squad ,i also agree about Tyrer .

Depends how much (little!) they would want and how much IM rates them. Beswick has had a couple of good games against us.

Beswick is highly rated by IM but can we afford any players? I think they will be all on play and pay only next year.

We will have a great squad next year as we build towards SL, would like to see Nicho getting RP spot though but sign RV.

Fred i dont know what Varks is on each season , its not my business, but if we can only afford to pay play and pay next season , then i feel we wont be able to build on this seasons results , as we may lose some of our current Squad , not counting the ones who have already stated they are leaving.

And if we cannot afford to pay contracts , then God help the other clubs, to bring in more Supporters i feel Basil must be given the tools to do the job , most fans who come on this board are already the Converted , who would support Leigh whatever , but we try to reach the fringe supporters to come along , and to do this we must show we as a Club want to be successful ,and attract decent players .

nice sentiment Ian and I would love to agree but where is the money going to come from, the present board of directors have made it plain they will not put any more money in and as we have limited income streams then???

J20 you are probably right , i have only seen Varks 3 times against us ,and on TV this season ,but i know he loves playing at Prop ,and is very happy at Widnes,personally i think he would be a good signing for Leigh,as i said before he has speed ,size ,and his scoring record is good , his fitness is second to none,and we will need a couple of Props next season.

As for Bob Beswick , again he is a versitile player ,can kick for position , is a good reader of the game ,another decent player , and im NOT their Agent

As for our BOD ,they must start to act soon , show some sort of Ambition , Drive ,and Forward thinking , i hope Maurice is right ,and something happens soon .

If Widnes dont sign Varks then Leigh should......good player at this level and Hill`s leaving so we could do with a new prop.

He's an average player in this league, if he's cheap and available and we are desperate then fair enough, but nowt to get excited about!

I would say that our club would bring the best out of a lot of players in this league and from what I have seen of Varks he could become a favourate. But then again.

That's because it's increasingly clear that outside Leigh you clearly don't know a lot about Rugby League.

Everyone`s entitled to an opinion , now just because said opinion does n`t agree with yours it does NOT invalidate it.

But his opinion isn't great as he doesn't watch him every week.

He is a fan favourite at Widnes and always bursts through the line at least twice in a game. Full time training could only make him better.

Ive watched Vark since he was 11 if his heart was as big as his frame he would have been a world beater, it's only a pity his brother wasn't as big or kept on playing Rugby now he was a good player.

In fact if people go through this message board when it was first started they would see that I was the first one to urge Leigh to sign him which they did and he did .....absolutely nothing.

Hopkins will replace Hilly, he looks like a younger version and has better coaches around him than Chris did at the same age. Fingers crossed we can find the finance to keep the rest of the current squad intact.

Totally agree, Sam Hopkins is going to be another Monster for us. He likes the defensive side of the game but is equally impressive in attack.

Don't like the way Sam holds the ball out but other than that he has all the same traits as Hilly had at his age. I think Sam has been watching Chris a lot, you can see it in the leg drives and his tackling. Today Robbie barked something at Sam and he nearly looked behind at Robbie but realised and moved into postion. I personally think Sam will be as good as Chris Hill in 3 to 5 years time. I hope it's still with us.

Well having watched Varks every game this season the one thing he certainly doesn't lack is heart.

Opinion is all well and good apart from when that opinion is that unless they are a Leigh player then their crap and notably any Widnes players especially.

How old was Varks when he played at Leigh? And how often? I'd say he's done enough in his career to justify himself at least as a very good championship player. As for 'rubbish' watch your little video again and ask why it's taking 4 of your men to get him down then.

Thinking his great or not is one thing but saying he's rubbish is born out of sheer ignorance tbh.
