It was throwing it down last night in Woolston and woke up to be confronted by an ice rink this morning so it may not help that much

Just been out to take the dog for a walk and didn't make 50 yards down the street even with my hiking boots on. It's deffo worse underfoot than last night!

Going the Saints v Wigan match, if thats off ill be making my first visit to the LSV.

I read on here a couple of weeks ago that people were advised to park in Leigh Town Centre due to parking problems at the LSV for the Salford match. If that is the case, then parking and walking to the game will be difficult. Where does the HSE involvement actually start and finish? If you parked on Asda or Sainsbury's the conditions underfoot are treacherous!

as for the roads all it needs is afew cars with snow chains on their wheels and the roads will be clear

Quite amusing to read all the travails going on. Its been raining here solidly this Boxing Day, not a scrap of snow or ice - we usually have a foot of snow by this time.

My wife and I were joking that if we had been back in Leigh over Christmas we would have been virtually the only two people about, but would still have been scuppered as no-one would be able to get to the shops to open them!

Funnily enough, I don't think its legal here to use snow chains - but then we do have something that is alien to the UK - winter tires! Imagine all of Britain trundling to the garage twice a year to have the tires changed - it does work though!

So the ground is OK - it's just the surrounding area. Well the ASDA & Parsonage car parks have been pretty horrendous recently but have the shops closed? It makes me laugh - the bin men can't come but yet everyone seems to get into Leigh to do their shopping and folk have to get to work - it's not stopped the postmen delivering. I've seen loads of people, all ages walking the streets. Would a big concert get cancelled because there was a bit of ice in surrounding streets? If the pitch is OK then let the game go ahead - it's upto the public if they want to get there or not! Mard ar5es


This morning I walked from home towards Leigh town centre, then along St.Helens Rd, all around the country park, the sailing club and back to the town centre quite safely. It's been thawing ever since so what's the problem.

Drove down past the LSV last night , the snow plough tractor was there , it had cleared all the roads , the walkways all round the stadium and most of the car parks , quite simply it is the pathways in the town , what they need is hitting with sledge hammers to break them up as they are now just big lumps of ice

Mate rang me last night and said the car park behind the North Stand was like an ice rink.

Yes I know , I nearly knocked him over as he was walking over the bridge in the road , I then spoke to him on the way back

The police didn't shut the by pass down last night though did they , or Asda , or Sainsbury's , or the pubs up Leigh

Then you've partly summed up the problem when there would be hundreds walking in the road later on.

Don't get me wrong, I'm gutted that the game is off, but in this day and age it was always likely to be off.

So shut that part of the by pass from the magic roundabout to the LSV

They were happy to shut it a couple of weeks back
