Full credit to Batley, they wanted it more and showed far more ingenuity, guile, strength and pace than we could hope for on that form. We just couldn't cope with them out wide, very impressive performance from the Dogs.

As for Leyth, utter bobbins. Poorly organised defence, the (lack of) quality in the majority of last tackle plays was a joke and the forwards were far too soft down the middle; little wonder than Ridyard, Watson and, once he came on, Durbin had bugger all to build upon.

On the subject of Durbin, can't for the life of me understand why we wait until nearly the hour mark to bring him on, and even then I don't think it was clear whether he should have been at dummy half or Jock; was a good few occasions where they got in each others way in such a situation.

After getting lucky last week, this has got to be a big wake up call.

Need to start with Durbin....untill he come on we was clueless - best playmaker we have by a long way.
Cant understand why we wait till the hour mark before we bring him on.....if we had brought him on after 20 mins - think we would have won it TBH.

Unless he can do the tackling of three players, I don't think he'd have made too much difference.

Matt look at how much our attack changed when Durbin come on...... we played with a lot moe hunger and passion.............the game was lost down Maden wing cos he couldnt tackle and fell for some stupid dummy passes - he played well once Durbin was directing play.

Thats what C Hill did today. Another outstanding 65 min stint. Thought JT went well and Alstead on his return game was solid. Got to start Durbin instead of Ridyard.

That was a disgraceful performance - I don't mean losing, it was the manner in which we played. The only time I saw any fire was in the last 5 minutes, and I think if we could have played for another 10 minutes we'd have won. But overall, they looked lost, and totally lacking in ideas. Shocking!

I feel sorry for Watson and the stick he gets, a few loose passes but he actually took on there line today and scored 2 trys from it, its hard for any half back to play when our forwards are being put on there backs and the play is so slow, i thought today Watson was a lot better than Ridyard

Good riddance then! I did not enjoy today, too many players had off days but to say "I'm not coming back because we were e" is pathetic. The squad that Kelly has decided to go with is young (although his hand may have been forced because of finances), so you are going to get "lots" of games like this one. You need to ask yourself if you are in it for the long haul because this squad won't peak for another couple of years yet.

That isnt difficult my 10 year old grandson could play better than Ridyard did today. Unfortunatley I dont think he can make the step up to this level IMHO that is.

Durbin ? minor detail.Think Maden was playing full back when he came on.Was Hegarty stand off for a spell? Mortyy lost?Jock mom put a shift in but couple of wrong options close to line?
Real issue was lazy play by Hobson/Ridyard for one try and debacle on right side for others and he took a forward off?

We had a try disallowed to make it 12-18 they went straight to other end scored 6-24 gamebreaker.

Best team won.

Frustrating.We dont look to have the class so must keep building.

No I was bored senseless, even when we almost came back to knick it. 1 Offload in the whole of the 1 st half , if you are going to play it up the middle at least try to make breaks and support each other

We have some decent talented young players who I am sure can do much better than they did today

One thing is for certain , the ' new stadium ' factor doesn't apply outside SL , some serious thinking is needed to see the Leigh Centurions and the LSV become a success in the future

It won't apply in SL either when Salford open the doors on their new stadium (and neither will it in Halifax when we complete the East stand). A good challenge cup run, an NR Cup and a GF appearance may make it so though - for either club.

Well, I dont feel as annoyed as I did a couple of hours ago.

Couple of points.

Every try came down our right, or from a break down there. We didnt just have kids there, we had experienced players. Must do better. Much better. It was embarrassing.

We do not have a devine right to beat 'the likes of' Batley at home with our current squad. Get used to it. Those days are long gone. In fairness, I wasnt of that opinion at half time, I was fuming.

Our pack will end up battered and bruised playing one man rugby. Its not big enough, nor tough enough. Hobson can only lead so much. We have some decent power there, but not enough for a slugfest week in week out.

The attendance.......feelgood factor? Millions of miles away. People will not pay £14-£16 to watch that, or persevere with it until the lads grow up.

Martin Ridyard CAN do better. Give him a break. He is going to get targetted and needs to build on his confidence as much as anything because I believe the raw talent is there (apart from not being able to pass to his right quickly enough).

This should be our one and only wake up call because overall, it wasn't good enough from top to bottom.

Batley actually played some bloody good rugby and fully deserved the win.
