Very sad news....I have many happy memories of Mick.

one of the best fullbacks to wear the Leigh colours.

Sad news in whats been a sad week around.

Have just been speaking to AJM and he's asked me to put his on here:

"Mick Hogan was one of the nicest lads I ever met and he was a world class player who never got the recognition he deserved. He was a great team player, someone we could all rely on and he was a big part of one of the best teams Leigh have ever had. He will be sadly missed - RIP Mick."

very sad news. my deepest sympathy to his family and friends. Mick was one of the best all round full backs that ever wore a Leigh shirt. RIP

Mick epitomized everything that was great about that team, a local lad, a great player and as brave as a lion.

He will be sadly missed. RIP Mick

had the pleasure like many of you to watch mick play in the early eighties,absolute legend and very under-rated fullback,imho the best fullback up to date

Mick was a top bloke and a fantastic player he will be missed by everyone
who knew him its sad when someone passes away but Mick has left
us some really great memories not only from his career as a top flight rugby league player but has a mate and friend to many...

I've just come back from Mick's funeral and there was a great turn out for him. All his playing mates were there as well as some of the older Leigh players all wanting to pay their respects to a lovely Leigh lad. AJM did a great speech (with a few laughs) and even got a round of applause!!

Mick's family were overwhelmed by the turn out and it was a lovely send off for him.

Mind you I think there'll be a few thick heads in the morning because when I left they seemed to have settled in for the night (those rugby lads are loud aren't they)!!

Glad Mick got a good turn out. He deserved it.
Bet the rugby lads have enjoyed being together again, despite under sad circumstances.

Micks send off was a fitting tribute for such a nice guy and talent rugby
league player. Alex Murphy said it all in his wonderful speech about
Micks Life Alex spoke from the heart and everyone in Church must have been moved by it.. It was great back at the Liberal Club to see so many
friends and past teammates of Micks , heard some great stories from Terry Bilsbury, Alan Fairhurst and a reet gud on from Mr Grainey that had me rollin wi laughter..
God Bless Mick thanks for the friendship and wonderful memories you have left so many with....

Just watched Freds Nostalgia link on Youtube. Mick scores the last try. I was filling up before that. Me and My mate Paddy (who now lives in Oz) would always stand talkin to him for ages in the Courts and the Casino.
