| after calming down somewhat from the final whistle, i've decided that we need to be expansive more often, only did it about five times the whole match and scored three tries. anybody else notice that on our scoring sets we started on the right and scored on the left?! not science is it? if it works, do it til it doesnt!!!! and discipline is the only other big worry. silly lazy penalties being given away, most which smack of poor fitness.

| You desperately need a 6 that can organise the rest of them. Watson does a decent job but he can't do it on his own and he hasn't got the pace to make breaks.

| we will probably get relegated, we are a very poor championship side. One good win at Widnes, doesn't make us 'half decent' does it. 2 poor sides in the 1st half, but one Fev became 'mediocre' we could not handle them. I was amazed when we scored 10 points in 2 minutes, and nearly earned an undeserved bonus point.

| we are guilty of dumb rugby and poor decision making, for eg four good tackles and then we try a spear tackle, free kick ,try.last tackle we have managed to pull their defence to mid field so a kick across their line was a perfect option,we kick hard and low to the short side corner,no chance of a score or a mistake from them.then theres our coach 3mins to halftime he subs hill and puts on hobbs? for 3 mins why ,surely that is a waste of a substitution.and hobbs gives them a free kick in front of sticks, brilliant. We are desperate for an on field general to help watto out,he again give everything and diserves a lot of credit.

| Like Rennie said, on the occasions that we actually spread the ball about, we scored tries. Not rocket science, is it?
Far too many basic errors in attack and defence, and when on earth will our discipline show any signs of improvement?

I also believe the No 10 (Stuart Dickens) did the full 80 minutes. How come he wasn't tired??!!

| Personally thought we played well in first half even thought we should have gone in winning but as i said on another thread we seemed to self distuct as soon as they scored the first try in second half, then came to for last 10 mins, that game was there for the taking as i did'nt see anything special from Fev in fact we made them look good in second half. Why cant we play the full 80

I believe the penalty count was 6-5 for Fev' - so we can't blame that one. As for discipline with the ball - we probably created more chances tonight than in the previous half dozen games, but bombed most of them!

| My observations, based both on tonight and what I've seen this season -
Mort - Vastly improved positional sense, solid in defence
Maden - Not quick enough for the wing, needs replacing
Reay - Flatters to deceive, does not look good enough
Rudd - Excellent tonight, needs a run in the team
Stanton - Should be the "go to" man in attack. Only genuine pace and criminally underused.
Donlan - Back to the centres please
Watson - Solid as ever, made to look ordinary at times by a lack of runners and support
Hobson - Liability. Time to move on
McConnell - Worthy of his place, solid performer
Morrison - Superb break in 2nd half, trier, not big enough at present
Hill - Quality forward, will surely leave before too long
Taylor - Too small for prop, too slow for back row. 100%er, but is he good enough?
Armistead - Too clever for this team by far.
Durbin - Good impact player
Meekin - Great prospect, very solid
Haggerty - Good game tonight, another for the future
Smith - Worked hard and worth a place in the 17
I feel the ones highlighted must have question marks against them.
Now the real problem - the coaching staff. Very poor in defence which in turn leads to ill-discipline. Looking totally devoid of any ideas with the ball in hand. The only times we moved the ball, we scored It's noticeable when we receive the ball from a kick in open play the wingers immediately come infield to take the ball up - every time It's admirable they are helping out the pack, however they are in field for most of the set. If we do spin the ball out wide there's not enough numbers. This can only be what they are instructed to do. Yet again, a dire second half performance. Makes you wonder what goes on at half time
On paper, that team should have been good enough to beat Fev, however they were workmanlike, well organised and played to the limit (a bit like Huddersfield).
If this continues, relegation is real possibility.

Durbin just didn't do anything for me tonight. Jock gives us a better distribution and is very strong in defence. Durbin should give us speed at the play the ball and more options as he should be unpredictable as he has been in previous games. Tonight he hardly ever scooted and took the line on and his distribution at times was poor. I do rate him and he is definately one of our most dangerous players but he HAS to scoot and ask questions of the defence in order to be most effective. Otherwise we would be better saving a substitution and leaving Jock on.

| Here is a view from one biased Leyther.
Hobson had a bad game. Armistead looks busy but misses tackles too. Reay had a bad game and we dropped too many balls............again and gave away 2 many penalties.
The spear tacle effort from Reay annoyed me what made him think he could get away with that ?
We have played 4 games in a very short time and all against teams who will probably be in the top 5. Thats a fact.
NK is a good coach and I still think if we win 7 more games we,ll finish 6th.
We are a young side and the rest till our next game will do the players good.
Am I disappointed of course I am but Fev deserved it on the night.
We broke their line a couple of times in open play and with a bit of a rub of the green it could have been a lot better.
The return of Aaron Smith will improve this side.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Because #1 we are poorly coached
#2 Most of the team are playin a league above themselves
#3 Donlan was S/Off off a sort to be truthful he did,nt have
a bad game its just the forwards where battered by a
smarter pack thus not layin a platform for the backs
to get on top..
