Reading this he seems a perfect stand in for our very own Tom Armstrong................if he's only nearly as good as Tom then it's a good signing.

Tom Armstrong has been great this season , my player of the year , I raised an eyebrow when we signed Michael Platt , but I think he done well for us , as for Worthington , not a bad player , but I would have preferred Smeaton , heard hes signed for the Seagulls though .

Good luck to Greg, he's been miss managed all season, lost a lot of his confidence (like most of the team). He showed tremendous progress under Daryl, Danny & Sean Long. I think, if he has signed for Leigh, then Paul Rowley will get him back on the right path.

Agree, Greg's a top player and I don't think most Fev fans would say he's greedy at all. His first instinct is probably to run rather than pass but he usually backs it up and plays well above his weight in terms of bumping defenders off. He does seem to come in for a lot of stick from the opposition and often seems to be carrying a knock here or there and an off-season to get full fitness might be all he needs. His anticipation in defence has become a real asset too. Charlie, Sam Smeaton has played very well against Leigh in the past (as has Greg!) and was a really solid centre for us, but Sam's injury was a very bad one that took forever to sort out and it remains to be seen whether he can get back to his old form, and you'd definitely want Greg over Sam at this stage, desperately disappointing for us that we are having to let him go.

Typical of some Fev Fans, you can't criticise any player who has been at the club for more than 3 years. Its pathetic, that's why were stuck with Spears, Locky, kain, hardman and the likes of Leigh have left us behind. Its a Joke some of our fans wont criticise players for anything they do on the pitch because they have their photo's taken with them in the club house etc.

A perfect example, Moore has been our best half back all season but has been ripped to shreds until the last few weeks. No one would give him a chance at start of season because he had been brought in to replace Finn (which wasn't Moores fault). Yet no one will criticise kain who has been absolutely awful all season and is no longer good enough.

If you bother to read my whole post and not just the part that has been quoted on this page you see that I say Greg is a decent player and I would rather keep him. I Pointed out a weakness in his game which most Fev fans I have spoken to think exactly the same. Its a criticism of a part of his game which can be improved on, im not saying he's crap, good riddance etc. I was trying to give the Leigh fans a fair assessment of the player they may be getting.

You just keep thinking everything is all ok, all players who are part of the furniture are perfect absolutely no fault what so ever.

Sorry fevfan76 but you're well wide of the mark. Disagreeing with you about calling a player "greedy" has got nothing to do with being reluctant to criticise other players. Indeed, there are some long-serving players that I wouldn't be sorry to see go this off-season, if we are in a position to get better players, however much I might admire their efforts for us over the years.

So your bizarre rants about other players are irrelevant - my post had nothing to do with any other players (and incidentally, in my opinion most fans changing their views about Moore is simply down to the fact that he has played far, far better over the last few weeks than earlier in the season - I don't know any Fev fans who would disagree with that). I was simply pointing out that I didn't agree with your comment about Greg being very, very greedy, and to suggest that anyone who disagrees with you is only doing so because of having photos taken in the clubhouse etc is childish.

In my opinion our success this year hasn't come from our players being miles better than everyone else, rather that Rowley has got them all playing as a team almost perfectly. I don't know much about Worthington but if he is a bit greedy I'm sure that'll stop once he gets into the culture Rowley has created at the club, it'll probably have to.

Officially signed a 2 year ft deal, we bought him for a 5 figure fee, probably 10.000 quid, which us big bucks in rl, top signing, well done everybody concerned.

I am comfident rowley knows what he is doing, his record is pretty good.

Which is why I asked if he's REALLY that good that we've paid a transfer fee for him. We've signed some top players over the last couple of years, none of which (as far as was reported) we paid a transfer fee for. It was a genuine question.

None have still been on contract tho which has been the fee driver. Everyone I've spoke to this week who have either played with him or coached him at junior and professional level can't speak highly enough of him!

From the 'press release' doesn't sound like Fev are going full time next season....

I've always thought him to be a class act, when he's played against us during the past four years. It's unusual paying a fee though, these days.

Fair enough, if he's as good or even better than we already have then I suppose he is worth the transfer fee.

Re the fee'just a thought' but maybe we are setting down a marker if for eg a club came in for one of our contracted players.

Paying a fee is further proof of how far we've come, and more importantly fires a warning shot to the rest of RL on how far we're prepared to go. Well done to PR and to the board for supporting his judgment.

It seems clear that Paul has been tracking Greg Worthington for some time and has been very keen to secure his services. If the player is currently under contract to another club they have the right to negotiate a fee. Greg was in a 2-year deal and has been released one year early.

I suspect that there are more fees paid in rugby league in this situation than we realise. The very fact that we are able to be involved in this kind of a deal is for me a very encouraging sign. Have faith - if Paul thinks it is a good deal then there is every likelihood that it will be.

Greg has scored 54 tries in 101 appearances for Fev, 17 of these coming in 27 appearances this season. He can only get better under the guidance of our coaching staff in a full time environment.

Warning shot really????? after your recent money troubles im amazed your paying a fee for a mediocre player because thats all he is, i think its a great bit of business by our chairman, had a good few years Gregg but done nothing this year, you must have plenty of cash to throw around
