We didn't even get a penalty, although Hardman had to hobble away.

| Completing the 6 when we have the ball, and getting into their runners early when we don't, will be the key.
Had we completed more of our sets against Fev, and put in the pressure grubber kicks on the last when we did, especially in the first half, we would have been virtually out of sight against them by half time. We just need to be patient with the ball in hand and build the pressure with error free simple attacking. We have the weapons to score but we have to accept we cannot and do not need to do it on every set of six.
If we are patient with the ball and can then put them on their own line for most of their first tackle possessions, then we have too much pace in the backs and too much strength in the forwards for them to go the full length.

| Although I agree in the main and said the same yesterday, "we don't have to score in every set, sometimes we just need to build the pressure".
But we can't ask for entertaining, free flowing rugby without accepting that sometimes we're going to turn the ball over in our own half, it's the risk you take. And long may it continue.

I'll be happy for Basil and the coaching staff to decide how we play , as long as it involves us playing expansively when things open up at the end of each half

There will be a time when that is appropriate , hopefully in the last ' 10 ' either against Les Cats , or in a final , will we want Stuart throwing a ' speculator pass twenty yards out from our line then ?

Actually, in Wayne Rettie, Alex Brown, Daley Williams and Jonny Campbell, (yes, he's back with them) one thing that Batley do possess, is pace in the threequarters. Two of those guys gave us trouble last season, and the other two are capable of doing so.

Someone else noticed that, then. Came in as the tackle was completed and got the Leigh player in the head, with both knees. Thought I'd imagined it!

In McGilvery and Evans I think we have the pace edge now.
Don't get me wrong, I don't want us to get too boring and play total percentage rugby, but we do need to settle a little. The first half against Fev we turned the ball over way too much. If we complete more sets of six we will score more tries. Don't think that will be boring at all

| Looking forward to my first trip to LSV on Sunday.
Think your guys will have too much tbh, been v.impressed with the 3 Leigh games i've seen so far.
Doesnt help that we have a couple of key players out either, but if we can get a Bonus Point it would go down as a pretty good result, with this, along with Fev away being what i'd class as the hardest 2 games of the season.
See you Sunday.

Its not and if we can get a couple of players back then we might be able to give you a really good game. On Sunday we played with a 2nd rower at Scrum Half, and it told.
On our day I think we are capable of standing up to anyone in the division, but been seriously impressed with Leigh so far, especially the speed of the ptb and the way the halves bring the dynamic forwards onto fast ball.
Dont get me wrong, I expect us to compete and make it tough, but realistically a BP is a decent result. Anything more would make me a very happy man!

I am pretty sure you had a back row forward at scrum half late last season when you played Barrow at the Mount. Me and another Leyther went that day and you won convincingly and deprived Barrow of a bonus point.
We do not know yet if any of our duals will play Sunday or wether we picked up any injuries at Fev but whatever I am always a bit apprehensive when we play Batley for some reason .

I wish....!
Just a realist, used to seeing us struggle for god knows how many years! Although for the first time for a while, I think our main worry is where we actually finish in terms of the Top 6, as opposed to thinking about survival.
As long as we compete and make it difficult for you guys, then i'm happy. And who knows, you've got to lose sometime I guess!
Mind you I thought the same about that Arsenal team a few years ago

We did Frank...Tommy Gallagher, who had the game of his life....5 tries from memory.
If we get Paul Mennell back then I think we've got a much better chance on Sunday, as with no disrespect to Barrow, Leigh are a much better side, and on home turf. A kicking game is going to be crucial if we are to have a chance, and at the moment we dont really have one.
You guys do seem quite apprehensive, which considering your league position currently, can only go down as a positive from a Batley point of view.
Guess we'll see what Sunday brings.
All the best

Got to agree.....who knows what the outcome might have been if both teams had been at full strengh for the 80 minutes. Would have been a tight one I personally think.
The Rams play their pitch very well. It's tight and narrow and they seem to have a gameplan to combat that, and nulify their opponents, with Brambani's kicking game coming to the fore.
In our first game with them at the Mount though we beat them 28 nil and ran them off their feet...they looked slow and cumbersome in fairness......so the solution Dick is to play them on a pitch that's bigger than your average 2nd class stamp!
