Just realised I may have come across a tad disrespectful to Widnes. I didn't mean to, OffTheCuff made the point I was trying to make.

I didn't see anything in that game that worried me. Salford are no easy beats, they're well organised and have some potent attacking threats.

But I think we're just as organised and have more attacking threats and squad depth.

I know matey and been honest we made Salford better than they are to be honest. Dont get me wrong they played quite well to be fair, but not as good as Sky made out. Only Jon Wells commented how poor we were, and probably be one of of our worse performances of the season. Praying we get some bodies back soon, and rather have the bad injuries now than at the end of the season.

Never seen so many deluded people talk as much crap in my entire life, and I've been to Hull, get a grip you don't have a clue how you'd play against any super league team because the quality of opposition you play is poor every week, You all bang on about a game against Leeds you lost, Salford beat the all conquering Wigan side in 1996 to knock them out of the cup it never meant we were a world champion team and we weren't, just remember SL teams play tough games every week Leigh will play 2 a season v Bradford. Stop getting all carried away it's cringe worthy!

To be fair it's only a handful who spout the drivel that we will be all conquering come the super 8's. Most Leythers are realistic and know we have to have our A game throughout and hope a few SL teams slip up.

Bradford who were whipping boys last year who are weaker now we're cruising past you in the first half of your game yeah you won but Bradford are a poor quality side.

Do you know how many games Bradford have lost in their last 12 fixtures, 6 of which include the alledged whipping boys statement within SL?

Both Bradford and Leigh will come up this year, the quality below Saints and Leeds is the worst ive ever seen in SL. And even those 2 teams are a million miles away from the heights of the last 12 years or so.

Both Leigh and Bradford are full time, play the game just as fast as SL, if not faster. Incidently when was the last time you won away?

Bradford were already down by the time they strung a few wins together The teams they beat, Leeds one of them had the playoffs sewn up already and fielded a weak team, if the were good enough they'd have stayed up.

Like I've said you've played nobody of any ilk so stop getting carried away.

I don't think anyone really knows the strength or weakness of any Championship team when playing v SL's Bottom half teams until we play each other.
Currently we are one of a handful of full time teams playing part time opposition so its hard to judge on a game to game basis.
Equally the standard of SL has been questionable for a very long time with many players and coaches cruising through games without any jeopardy so again its hard to judge on a game to game basis especially when you see some of the lopsided scores and poor defence.
What I would say is I haven't seen many teams in any division play the brand of RL that Leigh have consistently done with a part time and now full time team so its certainly entertaining stuff to watch which will catch the eye of many and it just underpins that now is a very good time to be a Leigh fan.

And that sums up what the closed shop of Sooper Dooper League has been about these past few years. Nobody below that exalted level ever got the chance to play anyone 'of that ilk' and the bottom four or so teams in S/L stagnated because they never had any incentive to improve on their abject situation.

All anyone in the inferior quality Championship ever wanted, was to get the opportunity to have a go in the 'promised land', and even when that opportunity materialised, the 'promoted' team basically bought their way in!

It is going to be interesting to see how we do against Super League opposition, yes we've not played any so you can't really make a direct comparison to say we'll win or loose but neither can the SL teams say they'll beat us or won't. Looking at what we do know Leigh have been playing some absolutely fantastic skilful rugby the last few years, looking of a similar quality to the bottom few Super League teams (who've been stagnating with nothing at all to play for), while many of the bottom SL teams are already really struggling with injuries we've practically got a whole 2nd 13 of very similar quality. We're now a full time team with a very good mix of young quality developing players & experienced old hands with one of the best young British coaches in the game at the helm, who's gotten absolutely everyone fully committed to the club. Off the field we were (& I presume still are) debt free (unlike most clubs) with a wealthy backer more than willing to put his hand in his pocket for big one off expenses but a strict budget covering the day to day costs. Do I think at the moment we'd absolutely wipe the floor with anyone and everyone? No. Do I think it's a fantastic time to be a Leigh fan with an incredibly bright future ahead of us we should all be very excited about? Definitely.

Salford given 2,000 tickets and the whole of the South Stand for the cup game.
