According to some we could lose droves on Friday nights.

People don't come to games anyway because they don't get the Journal/Reporter/never see the big ad sign outside Asda/Mick Higgins once ran over my cat etc..

And if the commentary is that good that they feel they are better off not being at games, they can put a word in at the BBC for me...

Nah in seriousness the idea is to put Leigh's name further out there and if lapsed fans happen to tune in they might hear the atmosphere and think, I'll have a piece of that...

Not all fans can get to games and its just a way of reaching them.

Listening to us is the third best thing to being there, of course they could buy the videos as well that way they get the full package.

I don't think the live broadcast will affect the attendances at all. This is something we've discussed at the meetings and we tend to think that those who want to attend the game will still do so (even though the commentary is ace).



Like Dave said, we're hoping that we're going to attract some lapsed/new fans who will hopefully listen in and realise what they're missing, whilst at the same time, offering a service to those who can't attend.

Several decades ago when Eddie Waring was commentating on BBC Grandstand the Beeb were not allowed to tell viewers which RL game was being televised on Saturday afternoons.

We did not have internet or mobiles in those days but we always used to know which game it was cos people used to use their landlines cos with the Camera crews arriving at a particular ground early Saturday morning.

I do not think gates will be impacted much tbh but it might entice lapsed fans to start coming again..

I have been on nights mish so i have really enjoyed the coverage, the commentary was excellent as well.

I'm glad it all turned out well because we had quite a few unforeseen problems during the broadcast today.

However, as has been mentioned before, all these things are 'firsts' for us so we are basically learning as we go (the one thing we learned today is that we can't rely on the LSV Wifi) and hopefully we can improve on every game we cover.

Hope you'll be running the live commentary for the Wigan game too. Just got back from a top weekend in Leigh watching NW Crusaders on Friday and Leigh this afternoon. Thank god rugby is up and running again. Unfortunately can't make the trip back next Friday so radio coverage would be much appreciated.

We at Leighlife need a bit of feedback regarding todays broadcast so it would help us greatly if you could answer these questions.

We had loads of listeners today but encountered a few problems and we'd be really grateful for your help.

Was there anyone who tried to access the radio and couldn't get on?

If you did have a problem were you trying to listen using the LeighLife player, your phone or Tablet, where were you at the time and if you were using a phone/tablet app, what was it?

Mish, I only got chance to listen for the last 15 minutes or so on the laptop.

Struggled at first to even get on the Leigh life site? once on, the radio link was fine at first but then stopped after about 5mins, had to go back and refresh the radio link did this a couple of times. But that could just be me as I'm on an old laptop so it may just be to slow, as I often have this problem with You tube, Freds links etc.

Is there a refresh button whilst on the radio page? couldn't see one had to keep closing as re-linking from the main site?

I think there will be a bit of a re-design re the radio page before Friday and hopefully a re-fresh button will be included.



The site was very busy and was running a bit slow if you came on late and again we're trying to address this issue.

The problem is that we can only see the stress on the site etc once we're live and we were always going to face these sort of issues but hopefully, we can sort out these out the more game time we get and I think once we're ironed a few little things out it will be a asset for Leigh Centurions.

Listened to the first half at home on my i touch,using the "tuneIn radio" app,apart from the odd bit of interference it was bang on.

At half time went and watched my boy who had 5 aside football,so i listened on my mobile HTC using the "A online radio" app.

It kept cutting out every 4or5 mins,pressed play again,buffered for a bit and started again,but this might be down to the location,as he was playing in a converted fort from the 19 century,thick granite walls,

as i was at work i thought i'd give the broadcast a go and boy was i happy i did.
