nicholson is a very good player, his distribution is first class, another player to look out for in the reserves is keiron eccleston, only 17 years of age and already making an impact, played with him at amateur level, very classy player .

known him since he was a lad at miners and thought he went well today. looked lively both at 9 and 7, great play down the right to set up alsteads try. well done ant!

Nico went really well today. Scored a good individual try, saved a try too by chasing down their winger and forcing him to pass which led to a knock on. And then made a half break and put a lovely ball out to alstead to put him in for a try. Well done Nico!

Got to agree Nico had a great debut and looked the part. He does have pace and sidestep and great awareness. Well done that lad!

We looked a lot better today when this lad was on the pitch directing the game with Ridyard............ has to be in the 17 next week IMO.

I cant understand this either, its agreed the club needs a full time media manager but it cant afford to pay for one, therefore all press releases should go out Via the Ch exec to Andy who then contacts by e mail ALL the press and media, where it falls down is because the club has no structured press conference day Ian is contacted personally through his contacts (our Dave for the Journal included) as are the players, I sometimes do a 'trawl' of the clubs departments (thankfully less and less these days) to try and get the various departments to do some trumpet blowing.
So even with a full time media manager because the players coach and officials are known locally they get contacted individually, now it would be very nice to say 'sorry contact X for any quotes or interviews' but because we are a club in the community it couldnt happen.
Now Im sure if there are any persons out there who want to taked on the job for free then Allan Rowley is the one to volunteer to, it sure would release me some free time not to mention cut down my telephone and eleccy bills.

Excellent debut, and didn't expect anything else to be different - he's going to be a class act within a year or two.

on first impressions, i am impressed, set up the best try of the game, looks eager for work, can only develope and get better, how great is it to see us develope players and bring them into the 1st team.

How good was Alsteads run!! Broke down the right hand side and then somehow ended up scoring in the left hand corner!

Great blocking play by the ref too on the Hunslet full back

Looked like the Alstead of old with his acceleration for that one.

I was impressed by Nicholson, think he needs to develop a lot more yet, against a Championship side i think he would look out of his depth, much like Ridyard did when we brought him up too early, let him play in the reserves for the rest of the season and then see where he's at.

Be good to get Nicholson some game time off the bench against the likes of Keighley and Dewsbury at home.

I think that was the first match I have seen him play although I may be wrong on it being the first.

For me he has style and class and looked like a good rugby player.I would continue to play him as long as Robbie is out because he can cover two vital positions. I also feel he will gain more confidence with every first team game he plays.

When you are ready you are ready and I think he is.

Re the Donlan thread he is reliable but I would not worry if Basil gave him a couple of weeks rest and put Mort in. I think Mort would be busting a gut to show he is well capable of keeping his place.
