| Well done Leigh from a Wakey fan, your defence particularly in the second half was outstanding.

| Some very heartwarming and emotional posts , what a day absolutely shattered don't think I've ever seen a performance like that 9o% completion in that 1st half yet spent it all just hanging in there after wave after wave of saints attack , phenomenal ! This truly is a club go be proud of right now enjoy the night leighers watch tomorrows game and let's empty the town in a couple of weeks for a day out in London .

| Quote ="Vancouver Leyther"My first thought was to my dearly departed Dad Alan Fayle. He watched since he was a young boy, then in 71 his best mate scheduled his wedding on final day and asked my Dad to be best man. My Dad being the man he was, couldn’t turn him down. I was 7. We watched short snippets on a small black and white fuzzy tv in a hallway behind the reception hall. He passed 5 years ago now. The last game he saw was us beat Saints in SL, 2 weeks before he passed from cancer. He was so ill but determined to make the game, because he said we could “do’em”. I knew we could do this today and I know somewhere he and all the dearly departed Leythers were cheering us on and blowing that final kick wide.
Dare to dream Leythers.
Wembeleigh is ours

Very emotional story VL. I'm sure your Dad will have been watching with you. Bless you.

| Wow. It’s taken me hours to come down from a very emotional very early morning over here. I can’t praise the boys enough. To defend like that in the first half and keep them to six points, what an effort. A massive thank you to Derek in putting his hand in his pocket and putting this team together with the best coach we have had since Sir Alex. I too was a sixteen your old kid the last time we where at Wembley. Up the Leythers.

| Well said LNZ.
But we have to recognize it isn’t only money that Derek has put forward. It really is his heart and soul. He has taken so much flak over the years and many would have taken the money and walked away. Not only did he keep the financial stake in place, he took it on the chin so many time and especially with the rebrand, knowing that it would be a personal hurt, but the best thing for the club. None of this would be possible without him. He is not the messiah, but he is a Leyther through and through.
It’s been a long day in Vancouver, trying to wrap my head around all this.
Bottom line. It’s midnight here, I celebrated with a couple of drinks, and my plane tickets are booked.
Wembeleigh here I come

I too went with my dad who passed on in 1991. What memories- Stan Dorrington’s barge over, David Eclersley’s mesmeric run through the centre of the field, Alex’s play acting (or was it?). All spoiled by Murphy’s betrayal (and Ashcroft) 2 days later).
Hope this doesn’t happen again!!

| Firstly congratulations on the win. Well deserved
As an FC fan who cried at Wembley 2016 , thinking of my late father, I know how you must all be feeling.
Rugby league and our love for our clubs does that to us.
Enjoy the moment and have a great time at Wembley.
Hope you go and win it

| Meanwhile there is a whole section on the St Helens red vee site moaning about John Asiata’s tackling technique and Ritson being shoulder charged off the ball for Hardaker’s try.

| I would like to offer an apology to C Kendall, who I might have suggested watches a lot of porn, and questioned his parentage. On the whole he seems to have got the big calls right, but at the time he looked like he was squad member for St Helens.
Congratulations to everybody associated with the Leigh Leopards, this was a magnificent performance, considering we were under the cosh for 60 minutes. The final hooter was an emotional time for many, and what we achieved still feels like a dream.
The BBC built up a great event and put centre stage the Rugby League story of the 21st Century. JJB has been supportive of Leigh all season and even Jon Wilkin was coming round with support.
Tremendous support from the Leigh faithful, who drowned out the dirge of the When the Saints Go Marching In.
Let's see how far we can go in what is left of this fantastic season. See you all in London.

| Wilkin as a pundit for me he is too biased. We beat Saints now he is having a go at Asiata’s tackling. I don’t like to see anyone get injured, but he put his body on the line, and went around the legs to bring them down. Now we are getting complaints for tackling around the legs. Dammed if you go high and now Dammed if you go low. At this rate you won’t be able to tackle anywhere.

| Wonder how many who “can’t afford a season ticket at £25 a month” or “can’t afford to go to games” will be joining the hordes heading to Wembley and blowing£200 each.
The more the merrier I say, but for those who can get but as yet haven’t then get on the DD for 2024 - the journey has only just started

I was behind the sticks when Dave Eckersley dummies for a drop girl and then sidestepped over the try line. Brilliant memories and we're going again to beat Wiggin this time haha.

| Busy at work yesterday afternoon. Do have a Beeb log-in but not a chance. All Bongser could manage was the odd quick check in on the BBC website. Very frustrating!
Watched the highlights goodness knows how many times last night and another half-dozen times this morning. Hmm-ed and Ha-ed about watching the whole dashed caboodle on iplayer (the defence was on show in said highlights, what more (bar two conversions) would there be to see?) before giving in and watching the coverage all the way through.
Pleased to have opted to do so. WHAT AN HEROIC PERFORMANCE!

| Due to a year's advanced booking I was away for this past weekend but was more anxious for Leigh match that at any time I've ever supported them. My friends kind of 'spoiled' the result but I wasn't actively avoiding the match, just couldn't ever watch it live.
Watching it back, even knowing the result it was a great contest. Just when I think I've got our team measured and what their abilities are, I have to press reset as they surprise me again.
Nice for Holmes to get a try, he's been putting in a hell of a lot of work over the whole season, one of the quiet ones.
Ben's goal kicking is not the worry it used to be, though his attitude still needs work, I noticed him trying to get at Mata’utia after the shot he put on him and where as that is understandable you can see a less than impressed Asiata pushing Ben away.
I think my highlight of the game was the duel between Charnley and Makinson, all done fair and square and with respect and each checked on each other after every contact.
I see some contention about two of Asiata's challenges, we'll see what, if anything, comes of it but John really is the bedrock on which it's all built, nice to see him do close to half an hour first half then rest and come back out for the big ending, it's good to see the rotation being utilised that most were always calling for, but in Lam we trust.
Lees is a grub, which no doubt mean he'll be pulling on a Leigh jersey at some point and play some outstanding rugby, but if he wants to keep getting penalised and giving us field position, please carry on.
Very emotional.

| The ONLY thing to spoil this weekend of weekends. Aussies retained The Ashes by default (and by some "Cheating within The Laws" in the second test) - weekend not spoiled.
Let's see if a Joe & Aaron combo can give us the penultimate SL scalp we want for this season. COYL!

I said exactly the same all game to my son. It was very clear to see on TV. I also have to say that the decision he did give were largely correct, but still inconsistent with other clear similar actions where we could have been awarded penalties.
Bottom line, while I ranted at the TV/ref, the lads concentrated on what needed to be done to win the game.
A re-watch of that first half shows what this team is all about. Then the beginning of the second showed exactly how they respond to Adrian Lam.
