I think the club have hinted for the reason for moving this game. Predominantly (IMO) To give all the full time staff a long over due weekend off at home with family. I can not argue with the reasoning. It is a long season after all.

Not interested in floating RL fans, they should be a bonus to any crowd - we should only concentrate on Leigh supporters, and quite frankly any self-respecting fan who chooses not to watch their own team because of the TV game that night needs to give their head a wobble.

Me too mate I am on nights, could have gone Saturday or Sunday.

Why this obsession with professional sportsmen having a weekend off, I would think they get more time off then the average working man? I worked a long season of 52 weeks with two weeks off when I was a young married man.

i agree reffy, if we'd still been pt, then that arguement may of had some merit. However now we are ft, it does not imo

Whatever day we play on there are those who would prefer a different day.

A lot of Superleague clubs seem to prefer Friday nights so if we get promoted we will have to get used to it imo.

Players are relatively young and therefore they will have kids who they might like to spend time with when their kids are not at school.

The club have decided the date if you can go well you will if you want to.

Had a phone call today from a fan who lives in Kent. He said he would be there Friday cos he can't make games on Saturday or Sunday.

Whatever we play our cup tie Friday. End of.

One assumes you could more or less choose when to take your 2 weeks off give or take ? Regardless of what happened to you donkeys years ago, The world has actually moved on and we are in an age now where employees are afforded more flexible work / life balance around working time in many professions. I simply can not compare basically the T & C's of my near 50 year career to anyone starting out in life today.

Let's be honest the players can hardly submit annual leave request forms for this coming Sunday can they? Or even commit to weekend functions you and I may take for granted such as family christenings etc.

Give the boys a break, their endeavours have earned a rare Saturday and Sunday off.

It is also astonishing how many people are actually under the misapprehension that all the full time staff in organisations similar to ours are professional sportsmen ?

Come on get real,terrible fixture time..And was no need for it.Personally, shows a lack of interest in the CC from Leighs point of view.

Love Friday night games, great for the atmosphere under the floodlights. Shame that they've picked a game where there is going to be a low crowd. Challenge cup games at home never attract a decent crowd (due to the fact you can't use a season ticket) until we play a big SL side. Looking forward to when we play regularly on Fridays if we get up to SL.

when we get to sl, i hope we decide to play all non tv games on a sunday end off

Whilst I, like you, would always go to watch my team, whatever the day, I do prefer daytime matches, for travelling/watching. Must be an age thing!

Didnt a Friday night game attarct the biggest league crowd of the season in 2014?

Gives the club a chance to test a different day/time with both general crowd and corporate.

Gives the players 10 days rest for the next battle inour promotionquest, i suspect thats were player welfare comes in.

Friday night also attracted a paltry sub 1000 crowd last season. 864 for a first team match = Pathetic.

We have trialled Friday nights before and they do not work. We got 4,000 playing Featherstone Rovers on a Sunday at the LSV last season with all to pay. The Friday night match at the LSV against the same opposition attracted half that amount despite ST's being valid and Leigh needing a win to be crowned miner premiers and to be presented with the Championship trophy.

Friday nights will or should work for corporate in a city like Leeds but not in a town like Leigh. We have been here before, how many times do we need to test before the penny drops ?

If we want to test something new (and I am all for trialling out new idea's in an attempt to boost crowds) lets play on Saturday evenings which in the main is relatively untapped by Leigh despite some encouraging support against Toulouse a few seasons ago. That is where we need to go. Otherwise lets finally consign Friday night games to the dustbin.

I really hope so. All weeknight games including Thursday & Friday are such a mad rush & a pain to get to, then you're sat round on Sunday with nothing to do.

If we did go up then don't expect a 'settled' day - each week will be dictated by which day we're playing the following week as is the general trend in SL at the moment.

However it shows you can play with all stats and figures to suit an argument. The cup game was all pay bear in mind, when people will argue the cup is not very well supported but stacks up very nicely in favour of Sunday's vs Friday nights

And last season's Friday night attendance of less than 1,000 would still be considerably the lowest seen at Leigh for a first team match in how long?
