Don't think so Maurice. Virtually all of the 20-30 year olds I know who attend games ALL started as unaccompanied quid a kids in the late 90's and early 2000's. If they had to attend with a parent then I know for sure I wouldn't have come anywhere near as regularly, if at all, as my parents have no interest in rugby and were/are actively involved in a local church which means they wouldn't be able to take us regularly.
The take up on previous 'accompanied kids' has been poor so I'd say this is a case of making it as easy as possible for kids to start attending games - surely this can only be a good thing?

| if this offer is extended for more than one match all it will probably ensure is that all those who have bought kids season tickets for their kids and grandkid,s this season, wont bother doing it again next season ,yet another one doomed to fail.

I believe there's in the region of forty (yes, forty) kids season tickets this season. I'm one of those who has purchased one and I can tell you now that I won't mind one jot about this offer - what you also have to remember is that the season tickets get free entry at away games, which the 'Quid Kids' won't be entitled to. As it is, I'm sure the club will be happy to speak to anyone who has bought a season ticket and feels ripped off by the new offer.

Matt, what seasons were kid for a quid back then, I recall a fantastic take up of the £10 season ticket for u16's in 2000ish - which I would do again btw ie £20 under 16 ST with photo ID. If you pay your money upfront you will be a fan, letting Chavs in for a quid will put full paying adults off, I am one of those btw whose worse nightmare is being in the middle of a bunch of pubescent teenagers ffin n jeffin at all and sundry with family's nearby

Agree, I started with my dad when I was about 7 but a few years later I didn't want to be with adults.

Rumour has it not all kids are Chav’s,
Nice to see the club targeting the youngsters, would have liked them to be given their own stand, so that the miserable ‘old farts’ don’t spoil their enjoyment.

| I am all for kids for a quid with Adult, and for cheap u16's season tickets - I aint for U16's for a quid unaccompanied. If we have 50 now paying £8 we need 400 to pay a quid to break even, if not more.
I am still awaiting Matts reply, and I know all kids aint Chavs - my kids started with ST's going with Grandad and Me, I would guess most started in a similar way although not all.

| The age range is 12 and under, they have to be accomponied by an adult!
the club will be looking at more initatives in April, but schools will be targeted so we can actually advertise it properly.
IMO we should target high schools, £1 a kid and you can enter the grounds with out supervision of an adult. we should also have school competitions, design our next poster (winning poster gets printed/ school win a framed poster) ect ect
if we make the schools feel involved, kids will come

i think we have established not all adults will pay £14/£16/£18. we can see that by looking at the abismal attendences we currently have.
are you suggesting we drop the price? children will come with their mates. I came once with my brother and loved it. Ive been watching ever since then, even made a few mates whilst there.

| Look lets just try it, let all the kids in with or without adult, not many 4 years old would find their way on their own. If enough come next time open the East stand for them, stick Parky in there and a steward.

this is why under 16s in for a £1 would be a win win situation. how many under 12's will come friday night? half of them will be asleep.
between the ages 14-16 on a friday night will be sitting on a corner causing mischief, or drinking on fairs park i should know it was only 6-8 years ago i was doing it

I don't think many High School kids would want to go to a match with mummy and daddy - it's not cool.
Also, you'll probably find that potential problem kids will not want to spend even a quid on rugby - that's beer & cig money.
Lets try anything 'coz whatever were doing now isn't working!

| Even better a shedful of White Lightning on Firs and Penny park then into the game for a quid - top night out.
By all means use cheap ST's to attract 12-16 year olds, not quid admission without adult.
Oh and we now have 2bobs on Friday, no not the 2bobs or was that 3bobs, but 2 full paying adults in tow. If all the fans with Grandkids/kids take up the offer we may reach a decent gate.

| By the lord, there are some pessimistic buggers on here.
Firstly, so what if we do get a few chavvy types on the ground? We always used to get them at HP and I don't recall them ever causing any real problems - no more than pished up adults have in the past - so what cause is there to believe otherwise this time.
My guess is that the hardcore chavvy types would be busy spending their etra quid on a bottle of cheap cider while they still can. Or at least they'll not be heading down to LSV - same as any style, 'you need to be seen to be cool', and much as I hate to break it to you all, I don't think heading to LSV comes under that heading.
As for the 'you need 400 through to make the same money as 40 season ticket holders - very true. You do realise that it's 400 seats across the remainder of the season, and not 400 extra seats per game though, don't you? I think that could well be achievable, or thereabouts.
From my POV, I think next season Leigh need to abolish the season ticket for kids, and just go with the 'kid for a quid' idea all season. I think we'd make more money that way over the season, but I do see the need for a kids paddock or similar.
God, why is it that whenever the club does nothing, it's seen to be 'out of ideas', but when it does something 'it's a rubbish idea'?
