Awful decision not to play him - considering Donlan wasn't even fully fit to start the game!

To befair on Stu, dont think hes been properly fit all year. However this is not the issue here, Morty has been one of our best players.

It's the reason that any coach is paid the money and we are on the terraces.

As a matter of fact if I were picking a backline it would probably look like this:

Mort
Donlan
Alstead
Nanyn
Stanton
Marsh
Watson

But until I've got all those coaching badges behind me, I'll leave it to those in charge.

Because he trains his b*****ks off, tries bloody hard, wears the shirt with pride, etc, etc, etc.
Work it out, it's not hard........If Stuart wants to play full back then Stuart plays full back, plain and simple!

coaching badges its not stopped us before, we can move you to director of football, i for 1 agree with this back line well until we get some halfbacks

Donlan is NOT the type of guy to make demands like that and to suggest he is is completely out of order.

Conversation today,upon leaving the ground between Myself, Mrs Optimist, and Ian Mort. ( Apart from the usual pleasantries, eg: How's work? How's your Mum and Dad, etc.

Me " Have you signed for another club? "
Ian " No, and i've no idea where this as come from"
Me " Why didn't you play today?"
Ian " I was not selected"

And i have no wish to be labelled " out of order" and as such i'll retract. I posted on another thread that Stuart was signed as a fullback but due to the good form of Mort as seen his chances to play in this position limited.
However i think P.R is under pressure to play Stuart as a fullback to justify judgement.
I am sure Stuart makes no demands whatsoever.
The Mort and Donlan debate will continue for as long as the two belong at the club.

well i for one would not of dropped mort, donlan not been fit all season? this may explain some of his less than brilliant performances, are they all injured then. one thing for certain we need mort in our team somewhere.

i will also retract my comment about stuart but seeing that morty scored 5 trys in reserves and obviously fit, why was he not playing and nanyn pullin out would accomodate both players in the team??

MORT should have been one of the first names down on the team sheet
he is our leading points scorer and as made quite a few good long range breaks this season something that as been lacking big time from the rest of the backline, he loves LEIGH CENTURIONS and always gives 100%

Mmmmm rumour that hes in talks with Fax, then dropped when its cleaar everyone feels he should be i the team. The plot thickens. Anyone feel he could do a job for us at Loose?

Whether i think Mort should of played or not is irrelavant as the coach has to make a decision and basically he's damned if he does and damned if he doesn't.

I think the policy of dropping a player who are deemed not to perform the previous week is a good one and one which we have not employed in many years.
Mortys defence V Halifax and his postional play in general the past few weeks has been poor so for that i say yes he should of been dropped admitidly so should others but thats a different issue!! Morty played in the reserves scored 5 tries therefore in my opinion should definately of played yesterday but again its not up to us to decide.

This season we need to ensure we stay up then clear out AGAIN for next season, we'll be doing this for ever!

Do you think our halfbacks were bad yesterday? Ridyard takes a lot of stick on here however, he put three world class kicks into the corners yesterday and we failed to capitilize on any! The up and unders were also never chased with any conviction. The bottom line is, the threequarters at the club are poor and, whoever brought this lot together in one team as certainly got a talent! The forwards/backwards dont seem to be able to pass or receive the ball, Smith is not suited loose forward, Hooker only and, Leului is far to raw at centre. Really though this is a very poor outfit and, yesterday I stood and listened to the booing because I dont think in fifty five years I've heard it quite so bad! The Stadium is an absolultly magnificent venue and this lot must be the worst team to represent the club in over ten years!

Mort has signed for widnes for next season, rowley told him he could leave cos donlan is on a 2 year contract and there wasnt enough money for another fullback at the club

and rightly so, did he actually complete a tackle yesterday?
