I think it is unfortunate that we play Salford next because they are one of the obviously better two SL teams in the competition, I think the plan will have to be to accept a probable defeat by Salford then win the four games before the Leeds game to make another defeat irrelevant. Winning three of the four could be OK but four is possible if lessons are learned from Sunday's game.

I think you are probably right there reffy. The Salford game will give us an excellent opportunity to try to get up to the necessary intensity levels for the rest of the competition.

And you never know - strange things can happen in sport!

I think it’s the ideal second game and should be of benefit, we all know that we need to beat the championship clubs and that Leeds are in a false position (happy that we play them last), we also know that Salford wouldn’t have been in the bottom 4 without their points deduction, however although it will be difficult if we play to our potential, being at home with a hostile LSV makes it a winnable game, and should be treated as such (as should all games) but even a close defeat would show us the standard we need to achieve and where we need to improve for the other possibly weaker SL teams.

Leeds aren't in a false position, they're down at the bottom because they lost a mass amount of experience at the end of 2015 and they've been e all year. They were lucky to beat us at craven park a few weeks ago, and I'm confident we can get a result at headingly on Friday. An yes, we to have been e this season, injuries could be used as an excuse, but you could also argue that we have a paper thin squad and it's the fault of the management.

Accept 'probable' defeat against Salford! no team should ever accept probable defeat, I'll bet nobody in the Leigh squad will be contemplating that?
If you look at the two squads, we are the one's with the experienced NRL/SL Grand Final Winners and Internationals, let them worry about facing us at LSV in front of our fans!

I think the majority of results last week will be cancelled out this week.Both Leeds and Salford creating a gap in the table.We then get to the point where everyone is fighting for position and the intensity increases all round. Hudds I think have three Championship clubs on the bounce now with Leigh being their third and makes for an interesting encounter at the LSV.

Win three games and things will become very tight in positions 3,4,and 5 win four and a gap will appear.

Perhaps my terminology of false was a poor choice of words as Leeds are playing in this comp because they were one of the four worst teams in SL this season, for the reasons you state plus injuries (which we all get) however they are the most improved of the bottom teams, they know how to peak at the business end of the season, I’ll be surprised if you or anyone beat Leeds in this competition (except us of course

For me, our pack is better than Salfords, there's not much in the Backs, and I think maybe Salfords backs just shade ours, I don't believe all this owd pony about accepting a defeat,you fight whatever the odds,I think we will win on Saturday.Charlie knows.

Well I am a Leyther so will be cheering 4 a Leigh win but Salford have a very good side so I'm hoping they have an off day.

Our pack and our backs are better quality on paper. On the day? who knows? You're right as a fan not to accept defeat and you fans could make the difference. Fwiw I think Salford will be viewing this game as one of our most difficult. Local-ish rivalry (for us at least) playing away to a side that wants to prove itself in a hostile environment with some ex-players thrown into the mix. I just hope we're all talking about the quality of the game afterwards instead of any dodgy incidents.

FWIW I think it's best to think forward to the next game only. I am doing this by having my sofa delivered to LSV the night before the Salford match just in case I have to hide behind it should it turn out that we're getting Hammer House of Horrored. Charlie apparently knows but, by his optimism, I've a feeling he's been under a sport's psychologist for the last three days, after the debacle of the last few minutes against London. Hope she was a nice piece, Chas. Think the sofa transfer, though two way, was a cheaper way of dealing with my angst. Mrs Bongser may have something to say however when she finds out!

Then we'll think about the next game. I do agree that this game may toughen us up. I say that I'm not looking too far ahead but I've got to train up to get my sofa to Headingly

Cmon BaB,you have to have faith,although I agree the last 10 minites of the London game didn't inspire confidence ,when needed Leigh can turn the quality rugby on,and I think we can beat Salford, OK they should be a top 8 side but I've seen a few of their games this season and they are not that good, plus guys like Hock, Cory,and Hansen will want to spoil the Docs party.

Having won the opening fixture, the timing of the Salford home match could not be better IMO. We need to get up to the required intensity to make a serious challenge. That challenge to progress really presents itself in weeks 3,4,5 and 6.

3 wins out of 4 in that four week period will be more than likely enough to secure a home MPG encounter in front of a packed out LSV, All before we have even got to Leeds and week 7
