| Just watched the 1st half back (not bothered with the 2nd
Obviously doesn't matter now but I would like to know what folk think.
We all know Liam Kay can motor. I would be very surprised if Chisholm is faster than him over 100m. I reckon if LK had stayed on his feet instead of diving for the ankle tap on
1/2 way he could have caught Chisholm comfortably.
Anybody agree?

| I too watched the first half again this morning but did not bother with the second half.
Re your question Pat' Chisolm was going full tilt after he intercepted and by the time Liam got going that would have been about 30 metres to catch up. So no.

| No.
LK is quick when compared to other championship backs, but up against SL players??? He was loosing ground to Chisolm hence the desperate dive.

| No from me too. Liam's fast, but probably many SL wingers are that bit faster.

| Digressing ever so slightly, be interesting who would come where between Kay, Pownall and Higson. People have been suggesting Higson be dropped due to his lack of pace, but over 50m+ I reckon he would nick it.

| Not wanting to have a go after we beat you but I was surprised on how slow all 4 of your three quarters were, the only backs I thought who will serve you well with the pace required if you make it through to superleague are McNally and Brierley.
You play an attractive style of rugby that is great to watch but against the big boys you'll need more pace apart from the said 2 to finish things off

We would also like the salary cap and funding of a SL club as well. Then maybe we could recruit to accommodate the big boys, as you call it.

| Just me then.
Frank, LK was never 30m behind Chisholm until after he'd thrown himself on the ground. He was certainly close enough to make contact with his ankle tap.
Ant, Chisholm is not a SL winger, he's an aging overweight Aussie half back I wouldn't have been expecting LK to catch say Dixon

The thing is, out of our 'backs' NONE have ever played in Super League ....(apart from McNally 1 game in 2010) Think we are doing pretty OK, even though you can train players with natural pace, to run slightly quicker. But when I watched Kieran Dixon race in for his try early 2nd half, can't remember last time I saw a player as quick as that, SHEER pace. Generally our 'quick passing' to our backline creates gaps and tries (v most teams we have played). But against the KR backs this was always gonna be difficult. If you had a 'pack' to match your backs, you wouldn't be in the 'middle 8's , would you ?

| On the original question, I did wonder this myself. Ridyard nearly caught him, so would think Kay would have had a chance.

| Over 100m I'd say Liam wouldn't have a chance. Now if it was 50m that would be a different result.Liams very quick off the mark but the nitro runs out just as quick.

| Apparently over 100m Higson is the quickest at the club. I would have thought it was Brierley as he is rapid but I think his acceleration is his biggest asset.
Kevin Penny must be the fastest player in Rugby League still. Last year against Swinton Brierley made a break and I didn't think anyone in the division could get anywhere near him but Penny made him look like he was running through treacle and nearly caught him despite having to come across from the other wing. Can catch pigeons that lad.

| I reckon, compared to their accelaration from walking to running speed, Ryan Duffy is one of the quickest players in English RL.

| Personally, I think Armstrong was your liability (obviously Hock not included in that assessment) ......Do you have an adequate replacement for Armstrong? ......Maybe he has learnt and grown stronger from his mistakes, but he does need to learn from this particular match .....Hopefully he will.

Whilst I totally agree with your sentiments on this post - I would point out that Armstrong (17 matches for Saints) and Kay (5 for Wakefield) have played SL.
Did you notice that Kay (and everyone else) soon gave up the chase when Dixon broke away for his try. As you say, he is seriously quick!

| I would like to see Kay, Potts, and Worrincy in a foot race. I think Potts and Kay would have the edge over 50 yards or so but Worrincy is a total powerhouse and I think he might run them both down. Last time they had one of these races didnt Calvert from Haven win it with Penny involved?

| I think the fact that Kay went for the ankle tap suggested that he wouldn't catch him.

He's 25 and doesn't look to be carrying much timber, I'll admit he doesn't look particularly fit though.

Well that aging, overweight, Aussie (although what nationality has got to do with it, I don't know) ran almost the length of the field and scored.
I agree, though, nobody would have caught Dixon.

Twas tongue in cheek mate, hence the smileys
I don't know anything about the bloke and couldn't be *rsed to look him up. However, AFAIK he is not a winger, nor is he renowned for his lighting pace.

When he signed for us, one of the main selling points the club used when announcing his signature was his pace.
