I am very encouraged to see the increasing numbers of youngsters attending our games.
This is a double benefit because their parents are coming along too.
In my view these kids should not be subjected to several renditions of the Flute Song during the game so could I make a special appeal to the minority who still sing it to please condemn it to the trash bin where it belongs.

Once again this request will fall upon deaf ears. As soon as the adrenaline kicks in after a few Leigh tries, the natural instinct of a few supporters, instilled into us after 20+ years of the chant at Hilton Park, its inevitable that nature just takes it's course.

Sad pathetic little people who sing them songs........stand about 30 yards away from me (some of them are regular posters on here.....but I wont name them as they know who they are), time to grow up I think.

As you know Harold I don't go in the North Stand ,but we have endured chants like We hate Wigan ,Sheep Sh$**ers ,and the Flute Song for years now its the Jimmy Saville chant unfortunately a fact of times we are living in .

The odd bit of choice language is hardly something new or unique to Leigh.

With respect to all, why don't we get back to the point of the 'Polite Request' and the 'Thank You' threads and:

1. Acknowledge that both Leigh and Keighley have some "crowd management" challenges with minority groups.

2. Stop slagging each other off in petty point scoring fans forum posts that achieve absolutely nothing.

3. Look to solving our own problems and putting our own houses in order.

4. Put some time and energy into offering constructive suggestions to make the game day experience better to the benefit of increased attendance figures at both the LSV and Cougar Park.

I am dismayed to think that there could be any genuine Leigh or Keighley fans out there who don't believe or care that they are damaging the club's image and future prospects by behaviour that is unacceptable to the vast majority of home and visiting fans.

I'm a Warrington fan with no axe to grind. Personally I don't believe there is a problem at all. It's football- you are going to get people shouting and swearing. How do you propose to stop it?

I know everyone warns to believe that their little Johnny is shocked and distraught when they hear a naughty word, but let's be honest they hear far worse on the playground and through video games/films/TV every day.

The only solution I can think of is to have the southern end of the west stand reserved for families.

You've all got voices. When they start to sing it just boo them like I do or make more noise . They will soon stop it when they wake up.

In terms of Keighley fans copping abuse / banter (one mans abuse is another mans banter) I suppose standing in the middle of the North Stand means you are putting yourselves slap bang in the middle of the vocal home support which given British peoples obsession with alcohol just to have a good time ensures maybe one of the village idiots will show themselves up (from either side).

In a ideal world you should be able to stand side by side but the line that RL fans all get on and can chat is slowly disappearing into the history books, true the vast majority are adult about it but it will be the minority that will ensure that to keep everyone safe away fans end up with a designated area of the ground to avoid incidents (no matter how minor or major you view them) as it affects the Leigh Centurion brand which in 2014
is a major thing that it perhaps wasn't in the 1970's or 1980's, perception is key to success.

For the visit of the well supported clubs and key games it should be a section of the South stand opened (Fev / Fax etc) and for the lessor supported clubs direct them to the South side of the West stand or the East side of the North stand, its not segregation as such but common sense and ensures everyone can enjoy the day instead of letting what could equate to one teenager who can't take his ale tarnish the clubs reputation - our club
needs to be proactive on this and not wait until one clown drags our reputation to the level they find acceptable when under the influence.

I really love the tune to the Flute Song, I just wish they'd take out the references to the IRA and Wigan because it makes us seem like we're stuck in a time warp......and a little bit backward.

Would it not be a good idea of the club added their words to the tune and play it and then fans would sing that version, just a thought

Odd that it was probably sung only a handful of times in the past 3 years or so, but as soon as a thread appears on here as it did earlier in the season then it ends up being a lot more regular. Does feel like groundhog day every time it crops up though.

I have never liked the flute song, and as for the people who sing the savile song, they are just idiots. Its not funny or clever. Please stop it.
