| Can't promise either of them a starting spot whereas at Barrow they probably will, Briscoe in particular is too good for under 20's Rugby.

| Haggerty's a decent player but it seems strange that we're cutting our squad size down when this a massive season. I just hope we don't get a catalogue of injuries & are limited this season if more of our players do depart.

| With the retirement of Finny and Tuki not getting a VISA it's not really a surprise we've gone to the market for a running second row forward.
Muzza was at East the other night and it's a good opportunity for the young lads to get some Championship game time as they may have been destined for 20s RL this year with the strength of our first team squad.

| So, our original 29 man squad could be down to 26. (29 - Finnigan - possibly 3 others +Haggerty) I know Haggerty is quality, but where would that leave us if we suffer a raft of injuries?

In same boat as any other club in the division Alan if unfortunate enough to suffer a raft of injuries.
We have lads pushing hard in the 20s And will come through this year, example being the young hooker who runs with the first team Sunday again.
IMO and purely based on what I've seen myself as I have not spoken with anyone in the coaching team I firmly believe Hankinson will push hard this year.
Paul has identified an area of the team he felt he needed to strengthen and gone out and got one of the best players in the Championship in that roll.
Squad strongest with most depth in Championship IMO and the regular first team RL this year will only benefit Bullock and Briscoe.

He did impress for Barrow in both games against us, last year. And he is a former Leigh Academy player, is he not?

| He has played for us twice, he captained the Academy and was here on loan before Basil came.
A running second row forward who can score tries - leading scorer at Barrow last year I think.

Played one game for us in the Challenge Cup in 2009??

PR's selection for our pack this season will be interesting not to mention difficult.

| Loan as per article Frank.
Kurt played with us 10 or 11 times back in 2009 and scored a few tries (3 I think), he has also played for Saints, Widnes (was a leading light in thier promotion promise (sorry season ) & Blackpool, all from The David book of RL knowledge

Not Surprised Kurt Haggerty is one of the most underrated second row forwards outside of SL and was rumoured to be full time on on a big contract at Barrow after stepping down from SL last year so our Board have pulled off a major coup here in getting Paul his man.
Son of former Saints hard case Roy and best years still in front of him and good age with plenty to prove like Matty Sarsfield.

| Well Charlie is happy with the deal although I do rate Joe B ,I did say giving Craig Briscoe a 4 year contract was a mistake , we need Quality at Leigh , not Quantity , I know injuries may strike during the Season , but our Squad is big enough I remember young Haggerty at Leigh and always rated him , a good deal by PR .
I spoke to 2 experienced Coaches this week about Leigh , both were at the Salford game and they were very impressed with Leigh and the quality of our Squad , one commented then on the size of our Squad being a bit big , but he did say he thought we will win the League this season .

Just to clarify the terms of the deal as I understand them are as follows:
It's a maximum of three players with the third as yet undisclosed with us able to recall at least one at any given time.
Haggerty is a season long loan and can't be recalled.
Paul and Derek see this as a opportunity for good prospects to go and play at higher level than our U20s and will also help out a coach at Barrow that I know Paul has a lot of respect for. In return we cover the one area Paul felt we needed with a quallity target that we initially missed out on.
Only 25 he fits the bill and has ambition to get back to a higher level, he's big, strong and confident runs wide and can kick both in play and goals.
Hopefully things will be concluded so that he will play tomorrow I know the guys have worked hard on it and hopefully the premature press release at Barrows end and the fact it's been brought to peoples attention on here hasn't scuppered things.
Cheers
Andy

| Thanks for that clarification Andy I think we could cope with 3 leaving if one can be recalled due to injuries. Should we get injuries & we recall one of them back we are only one squad player down prior to this agreement. In our young prospects a few of them do look like they could make the step up if & when needed I was impressed with the centres on wednesday especially Peat. It's good to see the development of Joe Bullock from winger to centre, back row, loose forward & now prop & I'm sure he'll go well for Barrow. I look forward to watching the exclusive interviews on Centurions TV cheers Fred

I sense from your post we've been tripped up again by people who should no better?
It's always baffled me why some of the hangers on seem to want to be the first to get the clubs news on here and seem to want try and demonstrate they know that bit more than the average fan
It isn't helping you and your colleagues on the board one bit and while the OFFICIAL communication from the club since you guys took over has been better than ever before it is constantly being spoiled by these egotistical nobody's who think they are better than everyone else just because they hang around and do stuff for nowt!!! I don't often give out advice and especially not to business people of the calibre of our new board but some of these people need dragging into line and sorting out big time if you really want to get it right IMO as they are watering down your great work time and time again and put putting an unprofessional slant on what otherwise is a really professional product.
It should not be a race to break news and news should go out through official channels and then to the two bit local press that's how it works at the likes of a Wigan and the big clubs from my knowledge.
These wannabe journalists or wannabe club employees/ directors always destroy the potential of these stories and always water the effects of the story down.
Keep up the good work though, another great signing!!!

| On this topic... welcome to Kurt (again), a very useful player and in Joe and Craig heading the opposite way, they will also learn lots from their spell with Barrow.
In the meantime when the interviews are uploaded I hope you will enjoy them. Plenty of content to come over the course of the season and Leigh Centurions TV is the best place to see and hear it from a Leigh perspective.
