The process seems to place far more emphasis on "potential to cause injury", rather than actually causing injury. I'm afraid we need to offload Jamie now, for our own good, and probably his. (I wonder what his punishments would be at another club?

Indeed , RL as a sport needs to look carefully at itself with regards how it is perceived , we see players deliberately going out to injure fellow professionals with high tackles , spear tackles , late shots and shoulder charges to the head , all much more dangerous than what Jamie did in anger at seeing one of his teammates targeted

If we want parents to take their sons to clubs to play the sport , we must allay their fears

I think the key here is not what injury was done by Acton - but what injury COULD have already been done prior to what he did and how acton's actions could have impacted on that.
Two rugby players have lost their lives in the last 12 months to accidental head injuries. Imagine if he'd have done that in a similar situation. Imagine if Bird had, for instance, cracked a neck vertebrae in the previous collision - what Acton did COULD have had a massive impact as he had no way of knowing the extent of birds injuries before he did what he did. He's lucky it's just 9- and I reckon Leigh expected this given they spent all that time preparing.

He's been a marked man all season by all the old pros at every club we've played. They know he is a hot head who came late to the game and can not control his discipline. They know which buttons to press and are winding him up all game. Bird was in his ear throughout winding him up and yet again it worked.

He's had more than enough chances, time to say goodbye.

No surprise based on his disciplinary record with the RFL(on that can anyone remember a bad Acton tackle - anyone able to put down what he's been banned for this season as I can't remember anything where he has broke a nose, knocked teeth out or concussed players - yet he has seen his team mates recieve these injuries with no bans for those that caused it...).
RE: 'What if' scenarios, if we are going down that road then expect a lot of 'ambulance chasing' lawyers to be involved when players retire as in essence the sport will find it hard to define 99% of the actions on a sports field as not having potential to cause injury(accidental or otherwise).

Absolutely the game is tough enough- and yes any player Could potentially be injured- so why would any player grab another who had appeared to sustain a head injury in that manner - But Greg bird was "sparked out" on the floor as far as Acton was concerned. Watching on tv it appeared that way to me.
What ifs is exactly what should be looked at - the welfare of players should be absolutely paramount- yes they are paid- bu they do it for entertainment!
