Stating the obvious but the people of Leigh need to start coming to the Lsv and match the ambition of the club if we are to get to the promised land.
Next year is an exciting new format that will hopefully attract extra fans.

Spoke to a lot of people who watched the final who were very impressed with what they saw.

They deserve to fill the stadium every week but, unfortunately, there are a lot of people either unemployed or earning low wages in Leigh as elsewhere. The crowds will only increase when we are in the league of 8 or when we play Bratfort, Fax and Fev. Even when we get to SL (which we will) I would only expect an average touching 5000. There are too many pressures on peoples finances and too many other distractions in Summer.

Being in the middle of SL's Golden triangle..........Wigin, Saint's and Wire ( and now even Salford may make an effort) it will be a struggle to get back the plastic wigginer types.
The style of Rugby we have played this year has been week in week out far more entertaining than any of the above. I've brought a few warrior friends along to a few matches and they were very impressed with our team but also stated that in the SL this style would have to go.
I hope Im wrong but it seems the SL teams supporters only want their teams to win even at the cost of entertainment, (look at wigin and Hulls dire CC performance, but the fans of Wigin were extatic in the win).
I don't think it's just the cost of the game that will keep our gates low, it's more the difficulty in enticing these LEIGH locals who decided years ago to follow a SL team instead of watching their town team in a league that had been made a mockery by the franchise cock up.

We can't do anymore at the moment on the field and surely their is scope to increase our crowds .
Castleford average 6000 + plus in super league and that's not just this year.
Anyway 5000 in SL is okay it's the now I'm worried about.

Those players certainly deserve bigger attendances.

I have and he makes some telling points but I think our average gates will head towards 3000 next season especially when we get to the second stage where we will be in a league of 8 with the four bottom finishing Superleague clubs.

Regarding averaging 5000 in Superleague if we get there I think that is a huge underestimation given the fact that because of our location and facilities we will attract big followings from our visitors compared to the average Championship followings we have had.

Another poster says his Wigan mates think we would have to change our style of play if we did get to Superleague. Why ?

When we where in Superleague in 2005 we had a poor team' in 2016 we won't.

Leigh are a club heading in the right direction as you will notice if you look around and see how many youngsters our club is now attracting compared to say 3 seasons ago.

Frank , I will be surprised if our gates are averaging over 3000 next season , I hope im wrong and the Club and Team deserve more fans , but the Public wont turn out for just normal games , the GF following was great we need that support every week but it wont happen .As for your assessment of SL Crowds at the LSV if we get there ?For me 5,000 would be very lucky to achieve , unless it was Wigan , Saints , or Wire at the LSV .

Because we would get punished with our loose balls Frank. Yes we put up a brilliant show at Leeds (and ultimately lost by a loose play when on attack ) The Championship clubs didn't have the skill players and coaching to counteract our style of play, but the top teams will.
We played fantastic this year and Im sure we'll do the same next year but surly we can't expect to have the same cavalier attitude when we come up against the top SL teams week in week out. ? Lower SL teams yes but not the top.

Frank, WYSIWYG did say crowds would increase if we got to the middle eight or when we play Brad, Fev & fax. He also stated that crowds would average around 5k if in super league. A slight under estimation maybe but not far off. personally i hope we could fill the LSV every time,but that could be some time off yet.

Good point, but PR will surely adapt a certain type of play/strategy/plan accordingly to the team we face that particular week.

I disagree its a garbage post, with a town full of that attitude I would encourage the board to walk away now and enjoy their summers.

Its not a financial call, I have just got the family tickets to every game next year for £8 a week 2A + 2C!!!!!

If somebody claims they cant afford that then in 95% of cases they are lying, they simply give priority to Fags, Take away shet, Booze, Broadband, Sky etc

Leigh has a population approaching 50000 10% take up is 5000, add in Bent, Bongs, Golborne, etc and if 3000 is not our average prior to play offs then lets go PT and become Wigans feeder club, they can pay the bills because we as a club would be dead

My advice to the board is carry on targeting the families, the women especially and dont waste your time with the deadwood who have a list as long as the cut of excuses not to do - we have great positivity and community within our fan base now, luvv the whingers off for their pathetic existence and laugh at them rather than listen to them

Whoa pal, What people get income wise, and how they get it and spend it is their choice. WYSIWYG'S post is stating the fact what we have today.The more you insult people for spending their money on whatever,The less you will encourage them to spend it on what you want them to spend it on.Some people might be well off and not go watching Leigh,and might smoke,booze,eat kebabs have sky etc,but that's their choice.Some people are not well off and would like to go but genuinely can't afford it.By the way the bod are doing an extremely good job and they are taking this club in the right direction,and that will do for me.

Ok that's fine. But they need encouraging and not insulting,bearing in mind that some people don't make going watching Leigh a priority so then it doesn't become affordable after expenditure. The club is selling the product much better than it once was,but it will take time to keep the crowds increasing.Like I've already said, they are taking the club in the right direction and doing a fantastic job.

Nostra - When you haven't got the money no matter how much you want to go to a game it's impossible. You obviously have the money to spend as you wish. Other people choose fags and a drink. I choose food, bills and then a game. I'm unemployed and I pick my games and I travel 8 hours there and back from Oldham to the LSV so put your keyboard warrior attitude away please. I never understand that type of poster who attack people but don't have the guts to put their photograph as their badge. They remind me of car drivers who change personality behind a wheel. If you met them in the street they would be as nice as pie but get them behind a car wheel or a keyboard and they change into The Incredible Hulk :O)

We need to up our attendances massively, and possibly our admission prices also, to stand any chance of a competitive team in SL.

And by competitive I don't mean winning silverware, I mean mid-table and the odd good cup run. And by attendances, I mean our own speccies and not being reliant on big away followings.

Well that's nowt to do with choice and affordability. The mind boggles.

I agree with some of your points but a bit strong IMO and I supose it's easy to have your view point when earning a six figure salery, some are not so fortunate.

Wigans population is over 310k so despite being the biggest club in the country and current double winners they are operating well under 5% on your logic. Leeds is a City with nearly 1m people in It but it just doesn't work that way mate.

Instead of critising people who don't share your point of view, try to understand what they are saying. I don't believe dramatically increasing attendances is impossible and a competitive Leigh side in SL will pull big gates for the big games if marketed right but it's a long game and will require year on year marketing imporvements and far greater levels of resource and advertising than the club has currently got or has ever had before.

Let's keep doing what we've been doing an slowly building and most of all appreciate the people that do go, fund the club and try and make sure they keep coming back and growing steadily like they have been doing this last 18 months.
