Let's hope this rumour is true. He would be a top signing, down the pecking order at Salford behind Hansen & Hock. Looking at the Salford board he has been ripping it up with these two out injured.

He was Born there Derek played at St Pats Chorley Panthers (I think), Stains academy 1st team then Salford since 2011, 114 SL games (according to Wikipedia).

Great player. Was in the year above me at school (St Peters in Orrell) and captained the rugby team to National Champions (I think twice). Always kept an eye on his progress and he's turned into a very decent player. Would be really happy if this one is true even with the great back row options we already have.

If true, then you've got yourself a real good player. Serious grafter, very professional and scores tries too. He's been a fantastic squad player for us (As in he's played second fiddle to others) always done more than asked when he's played. Would strengthen most teams.

I'll be disappointed if he leaves. Whilst he isn't first choice behind Hock and Hansen, he naturally still gets plenty of game time and has been great for us this season. As I put on the Salford board, with respects to Leigh he is much better than the Championship. If it happens got yourself a cracking signing.

Judging by the league table, so are Leigh!

Besides...not beyond the bounds of possibility that Leigh and Salford will be playing each other in the back half of next season....so unless you think he is a Top 8 player (and if so why is he at Salford and not even first choice?), it's not that much of step down. In fact in terms of hardcore fanbase I would argue its at least horizontal.

The people moaning about Ben Jeffries are probably the same people who didn't want Rowley as coach a couple of years ago and are now singing his praises. It's funny how things change.

At the end of the day none of us have seen Jeffries for 2 years and he wouldn't have been signed without doing some homework. We need someone like him to create competition and also to teach Brierley (if he stays), because I think Ryan still have a lot of developing to do.

Give the guy a chance, he hasn't even pulled on a shirt yet. His age is irrelevant to me, he's obviously kept fit and with 2 years to heal all his niggles from SL I'm sure he'll be raring to go when he starts.
