Frank I agree with Lynda , not many Fev fans will travel for this , I think the gate will be affected , still it will show we need Sunday rugby .

M62 / M60 Friday night in either direction will put folk off going to a match IMO

I certainly hope so as otherwise I would have faced a tough decision, miss my first wire cup game for a few years or miss what would be a much better game. We play big games in SL on a Friday night all the time and it has no real effect on attendances or away followings that I have noticed.

Gans , most of our opponents are Yorkshire based and travelling over the Pennines in Works traffic is not appealing to most , it may be different in SL ,then you have your Lancs based Games , a lot of Wire home games are on Friday evenings , its just a good thing for you personally its on Friday for this game , I think we have a few SL fringe fans who come to Leigh games , that wouldn't come on a Friday .My preference is Sunday , but we are all entitled to have our say .

Well we will find out when we pay hem in the league on a Sunday and compare .
We've not had office confirmation yet so fingers crossed it wrong .

Better Corporate on a Friday apparantly

It is down to what people are used to I suppose but for me public transport is a lot better on a Friday than a Sunday.

I know that is a selfish point of view but having said that I know I would travel over to Fev on a Friday if we were playing there and we have always took a reasonable following for our Thursday night games there in the past.

I know their away following will be affected but it is a split gate so that is no big deal imo.

Anyways the lad on the Swinton forum knows no more than me on when the game will be played but whatever I will attend on whichever date it is to be played.

Col I admit I do like that side of the Experience , I just prefer Sundays its nice to meet friends for a chat , being tee-total the drinking doesn't bother me .Is the food better on Fridays ?I cant eat anything Spicy .

Saw on twitter a lot of the players saying they preferred Friday. I definitely prefer Sundays, weekday games are too much of a rush really. However, it's a one off game in a knockout cup tournament and if Rowley thinks that playing on Friday night will give us more of an advantage to win then we should do it.

If it's the Saturday then my carload from yesterday won't be there as we've already got train tickets for watching Bolton at Sheffield Wednesday.

Leigh Centurions play RL at 3pm on a Sunday afternoon - that is factual.
If we are drawn at home in a attractive Challenge Cup fixture v Featherstone Rovers then it makes perfect sense to keep our 3 PM KO times especially as gates are up this season.
If you add to that Featherstone also play on Sundays (so its game day for there fans too) I'd say we'll see the biggest away support at Leigh for a very long time and a pretty good pay day for both clubs.

Saturdays was promised (but thus far nothing has happened) so I could understand a Saturday game (although it has risks during a football season).
As for Fridays, I'd hope we have learned lessons as Leigh lost support (and finance) on Friday night games when we had nearly a seasons worth not to long ago and every 'one off experiment' playing Fridays since has seen us post poor gates (it also means people get out of the habit of going and lose interest - that's the challenge the BOM still have and will have for another year whatever day we play on) so I really do hope the OP is wrong as it would represent a massive backward step by the current BOM and one that has risk.

Hopefully the BOM will confirm 3PM Sunday soon or come out and let us know the reasoning if we have decided to abandon our usual match day.

Our game has not yet been finalised, negotiations with Fev and LSV are ongoing but we will aim to nail this quickly as possible and begin sales and marketing.

Great cup tie in prospect regardless of weather it's a Friday, Saturday or Sunday.

Whatever we do won't suit everyone unfortunately but its important people realise we are listening and doing our best as a board for our fans.

I can assure you all whatever day its on we will bring a good following

Well I'll be there and I want us to pick the best day to get maximum attendance , as playing Friday night won't give us any advantage , Fev will be the same team whatever day we play them .

Its important to understand that its not as simple as us just picking anything to suit us as a club, we don't necessarily have that luxury and also Fev have to agree to any proposals or it goes to the RFL panel to decide which obviously takes more time.

We have to consider the opinions of the fans which as a board we pride ourselves on doing and also consider what will deliver the best crowd like you say, but in the same breath we are governed by many other factors and it isn't as straight forward as it seem.

We are looking to get this nailed ASAP and will communicate out ASAP.

Who played at LSV and who played at Sedgeley the other Sunday?

So is it now their turn?

Its our home but other factors outside of Leigh and Swinton also determine what day the game will go ahead.
